“Solar Energy Services (SES) did a great job handling my complicated solar carport project. The carport has two spaces and uses an aluminum frame to hold 28 panels that are the roof of the project. They handled the structural engineering, excavating and foundation work that was involved in creating the carport. They can do a lot more than just stick panels on a roof! Their price was good. I found out about this company because one of the principals is a contributor to the SolarPanelTalk web forum. “My solar array was installed several years ago by Solar Energy Services. They promised me that they would take care of me and my system, They told me the system will last 30 years. What they don’t tell you is that it will cost several hundred additional dollars each time they service your system. That even if the parts are under warranty, that does not cover labor and mileage. They actually charge for every mile between their office and your house. So the service is 5 stars at installation and 2 stars when it is time for service calls. “I had them install my solar hot water system in my house,, my system needed maintenance, so I call to schedule service, then they tried charge me 3.00 a mile plus the service charge…LOL they must think they are brain surgeons… I has a issue with the day scheduled, so I tried to reschedule but Erin, she insisted in keeping the date and that they would come later that day…they never showed up…. “Extremely disappointed with this company. Was told that the system they installed would cover my energy use age and it does not. I voiced my concerns prior to the project being completed and was told it should be fine. Now I am paying an electricity bill as well as a loan for the panels which by the way placed a lean on my house that I was not informed of either. The first month the panels were installed they all blew off during a storm because they weren’t installed properly. The contractors cut my cable and their own cables during the install meaning they had to reinstall all of the cable as well as destroyed my yard and never fixed it. All the manager had to say was that I should spend more money to make my house more efficient and there was nothing he would do for me. AND to add to the complication of our particular installation… it was in a Historic District which has very strict requirements about solar installations. “Don’t call if you need maintenance or anything minor on your existing system. They can only service their installed systems. Everything else is “too complicated”. What?? My system is heavily documented and definitely not complicated. You are left to dig and find one of those rare knowledgeable solar technicians who actually knows what they are doing. If you are reading this and are considering such a long-term solar investment (20+ years), you will want someone who has broad industry knowledge and are willing to help a paying customer in need.
