What do Customers Say about the Haleakala Solar?

Positive reviews:

“This company was the best home improvement contractor I have ever used.” – Anonymous ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 6, 2008

“I had a solar system installed by Haleakala Solar, Inc in 1994 and was very happy with that system. In fact, so happy that I had them install another one on my extension in 2007.” – Anonymous ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 20, 2008

Negative reviews:

“horrible customer service. When first hired thenm to instll solat panels the salesman quit before work started. After that no one would return calls. It was really bad. Eventually work was done. Now ten years later warrated micro inverters failed, and they are refusing to schedule service call to replace. Complaint filed withstate DCCA and BBB. Reached out to manufacturerof inverters, awaiting reply from them” – Daniel Ross ⭐☆☆☆☆ August 12, 2024

“Haleakala installed my system in 2009. My Enphase unit failed, and they said they went bankrupt and refiled, and are no longer liable for old warranty. Bull***t. They are advertising that they have been in business for 40+ years…either they have been in business 40+ years or not. If so, they should honor the warranty. Cannot have the cake and eat it too. Called and they were supposed to call me back…never happened. IS ZERO STARS AVAILABLE/// I ALSO LEARNED THEY MAY HAVE A RICO COMPLAINT TILED AGAINST THEM.” – ORCHIDGROWER ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 7, 2023

Positive reviews:

“Fixed our leaking solar water heater panel. Best value and quality parts. Service staff were kind, friendly and knowledgeable with installing new absorber plate and even came back to finish off final touches (insulation on outside pipes). Mahalo guys!” – Kimo H. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 12, 2024

“Haleakala Solar has been been doing a wonderful job of taking care of us ever since they installed our PV system over a decade ago. because their PV system and installation has been of such a superb quality we rarely need to call them but the two times we did call for a micro inverter replacement they responded within the same day and had the parts ordered and completed the repair in 2-3 days. We have been very happy with their consistently reliable and professional team and highly recommend them if you’re considering investing in a quality PV rooftop system.” – Greg G. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 8, 2023

Negative reviews:

“It’s been 2 years since we put a down payment on a solar PV system and battery. The company said they were having a hard time getting a permit but we never saw any drawings so we don’t know if anything was submitted. They did not submit any design to my townhouse association for approval. We no longer wish to deal with the company and want a refund of our down payment but the company does not respond to our emails and calls. A reputable company would do the right thing to reach a settlement. What’s more irritating is that they continue to send us promotional emails encouraging us to install a new system.” – Paul N. ⭐☆☆☆☆ May 25, 2024

“Horrible Customer service. Wish I had never gone with them. Installed my solar and now my batteries have melted. They came out and said we have to order them. It’ll be 4 to 5 weeks. That was August 31, 2023. And now it’s October 2, four to 5 weeks later. I have called six times since last week and they said oh we will have somebody call you. Nope that didn’t happen I’ve written emails as well. No response, no answer. Worst worst the worst customer service ever do not go with Haleakala Solar.” – Brooksey B. ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 2, 2023

Negative reviews:

“Had PV installed with Haleakala Solar 12 years ago and had a great experience with no issues. Wanted to add more panels and a battery and decided to give Haleakala another shot. Big Mistake! New Owner doesnt seem to care much about the customer or their experience. Seems like I had an inexperienced crew working on my house. They left holes in ******* and on the outside of my house. Installed everything and just left not even checking that everything was functioning. Enphase and my Tesla Gateway were both not working properly leaving me with issues to sort out on my own. After months of anxiety and stress that I didnt need, finally have everything fixed and working properly. Only thanks is to my project coordinator and the head electrician who were both amazing. The only reason I would recommend this company and can give 2 stars is because of them. I tried multiple times to speak with the owner and not once has he reached out to apologize or even try to help resolve any of my complaints.” – Danielle J ⭐⭐☆☆☆ February 24, 2024

“Literally the worse company I have ever worked with. Got a quote for a PV installation in summer 2017 and made my down-payment 05NOV2017 with a promise of working solar within 6 months. After losing my paperwork and requiring me to collect and resubmit all documents in December, the story changed to 3-6 months for *** approval to install THEN 6 months till full approval to operate. The *** submission the end of January, 3 months after my down payment, had to be resubmitted because Haleakala submitted the wrong roof diagram. In February, Haleakala submitted a packet to HECO without the site diagram wasting more weeks. In April Haleakala finally installed the panels and a DOA battery that prevented HECO from conducting system testing for final operation approval. By the time the battery was replaced, **** had identified concerns with the Tesla gateway processor and Haleakala blamed the next 6 months of delays on HECO in spite of the fact my system would have been online 2 months before HECO stopped new Tesla based system approvals if only Haleakala hadn’t dropped the ball repeatedly. The PetersenDean buy-out in April 2018 drastically improved the sense of urgency and customer service and I was given a direct number to the director of operations. Sadly, the subsequent PetersenDean bankruptcy returned Haleakala to absolutely awful. My system stopped producing on 01FEB2023. I called on the 9th and left a message with the service department then went on a two-week deployment. Returned to no response. More calls with no answer and no call back. Called the sales line where, of course, a person did answer. They submitted an internal ticket and I finally received an email from the same person I’d called three times and left two voicemails with. She said she could to send someone out to check on my system (that is under warranty) in two weeks so long as I provide a credit card to cover the $300 service charge! Haleakala is literally the worst company I have ever worked with!” – Keith K ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 28, 2023

Positive reviews:

“Positive place to work. I learned so much from working here. Many different trades can be mastered here. A lot of opportunity for upward movement within the company if you have the right attitude” – Installer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 12, 2023

“A typical day at work would consist of me getting to the warehouse pulling the necessary materials for a job going over the specs with my crew. Get abattle plan so to speak and head out to the perspective job site. Once at the job site i would coordinate with the lead electrician on the routing and wiring of the array and then proceed to draw the array on the roof or building which ever was applicable. Once Once” – Lead installer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 7, 2019

Negative reviews:

“Very dangerous working conditions, with terrible, used fall pro gear not up to date. Very low starting pay, for the amount of duties and the dangerous situation you’ll be tasked. Worked there did over 40 homes, buildings ranging 40 ft tall, for $11.00 hr pay. They say you’ll get a raise after 90 days of work, No one got they raise.” – P.V SOLAR INSTALLER ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 25, 2019

“There is no accountability for jobs going longer than they should be. Workers sleep at the job, take multiple breaks, and are never questioned when a two day job takes a week.” – Electrician Journeyman ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ May 27, 2018

Positive reviews:

“I was amazed how respectful they all were. They were fast and did a great gob. They took me out side and explained how everything worked. And made sure I understood what I was doing b4 they left! I will use them again if ever needed and I highly recommend This company.” – Heather N. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 2013

“Encountered some “rough spots” but Haleakala and specifically the rep was able to go above and beyond to resolve all incidents very satisfactorily. They made good on all contracted goods and services and then some. Would use them again.” – Lloyd O. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 2013

Positive reviews:

“Installed my solar in 2015. Had a great team do the work. If I ever had a problem or needed an answer to a question, there was always someone there to help. In 2023 installed 3 more panels and battery backup. Same great service and installation. I am very happy with my system and your service.” – Janice Brissette ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 2023

“What a very responsive professional company!!! We just recently purchased a home & needed work done for our solar, they were so quick to respond & was able to schedule me right away. Even helped me transfer step by step our solar to my name. Our technician Isaiah was informative, guided me to what to look for & helped me download an app that I can use to monitor my solar!! Best service from the office to on site job.” – leiann young ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 2023

Negative reviews:

“We are attempting to contact Haleakala Solar Inc. and have been unable to reach them via phone or email. We also tried visiting their listed business location on Google, but it appears to be inaccurate or outdated, which is quite frustrating. Does anyone know where this company is located?” – Oreos Alfred ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 31, 2024

“Avoid at all cost. My system was on my home when I purchased it. Original installer is out of business and Haleakala was highly recommended. First couple of problems with the system fixed with no issues. Optimizers and one inverter were warrantied by SolarEdge. Recently had another Optimizer was warranted and installed by Haleakala. Technician came out and did the diagnostic and supposedly put the warrenty claim in. Order was not put it and was closed out. Took another month to get the part in. Took another month to get one optimizer installed. The installers supposedly “fixed” it, and broke it worse than it was before. Been down another month. 16 panels not working vs one before. Took my money and ran. Doesn’t return calls. Multiple voice mails and text messages. Looking into legal options.” – Aaron (BionicSapper) ⭐☆☆☆☆ September 2024
