SunPower By EsaSolar review

ESA gets the Average Performer badge and works in 2 states, but their third-party ratings don't go above 4. Local community trust isn't their strong suit either - their score is 4.0 in our evaluation. This badge means they are somehow reliable, but you need to pay more attention to what they have to offer. While ESA may not lead the pack, they are certainly recognized for their capacity to meet a broad range of solar installation needs with commendable customer satisfaction. When considering this solar installer, you can add ESA to your list as a lower priority and one that requires additional research before you decide to work with them.

What do Customers Say about the ESA?

energysage.com

Positive reviews:

“ESA is a phenomenal company that stands by their work. Their customer service is the best that I have ever experienced. Not only did they quickly address any and all concerns, but their consistent communication is top notch. Kevin is the BEST at what he does; if you get him, you are definitely in good hands.” – esebrian ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ April 6, 2021

“Our entire experience from our first solar consultation to the insulation has been simple and worry free. The team at esaSolar has always done a fantastic job answering all of our questions and with quick and prompt responses. Communication from each team member through all the steps of the process has been outstanding. Not to mention how sleek and clean the panels look on our roof. The contractors were very professional and worked hard during installation and made sure to pick up any trash or debris that had accidentally blown into the yard. We would recommend this company to all of our family and friends.” – chayahspringer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 19, 2020

Negative reviews:

“Having heard that Sunpower was a long-established and respected solar company that made its own equipment, I chose them and signed a deal with their contractor, esaSolar, in August 2020. There was room on my roof for about a dozen panels, and I ordered one of their Sunvault batteries as back-up to the system. More than seven months later, the system STILL isn’t working. It seems that almost everything that could go wrong has gone wrong: long delays in supply of batteries, the wrong number of roof-supports installed on our flat roof, the engineers diagnosing faulty equipment and then not replacing it, different departments not communicating with each other, intra-company emails being copied to me in error, revealing what a mess the whole project is. They are very pleasant people, however. Maybe one day I’ll have something that works.” – davidjkennard ⭐☆☆☆☆ March 25, 2021

“Most importantly, the system is excellent and I’m very happy with the quality. However, I was told it would be installed within three months which would have been October. Four months later I had to reach out to ESA looking for information. The scheduled me for December 7, 2019. This was a big deal because of the tax rebate implications. Dec. 7 came and went and again I had to call. They told my I was rescheduled for late January. It ended up finally getting completed late February, almost 6 months after the original install date. I would use ESA and their product is fantastic. But I would make sure you get your install date in writing and have an agreement in place for financial compensation should they not be able to complete install by a specific date. The most frustrating thing to me is there was NO communication on their part. I had to reach out to them via phone and email every time. I do give them credit that after I asked, they were willing to compensate me for the rebate difference if needed. Fortunately that was not required.” – bwajda12 ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ March 19, 2020

Positive reviews:

“After considering numerous companies, I chose esaSolar and am glad I did. Insofar, they’ve been extremely responsive and helpful. Lauren was been very quick to respond to any question I had along the way. The site surveyor, Antonio, was very thorough and relayed my notes to the design engineers. Designer Mike was able to deliver the exact solution I was seeking. Permitting was a lot quicker than I anticipated. The installation involved a complicated main electrical panel upgrade + an EV charger, and their electrician, Gerardo Di Vicenzo, was stellar– an upmost professional with keen attention to detail! From start to finish, I felt my project was in the best of hands. Very pleased so far, great company!” – GDP ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ June 1, 2020

“I knew I wanted solar but needed Ellsworth from ESA Solar to give me all the information I needed to make a good decision. He knew the product and when I asked for changes to the configuration, he and his team made it happen. The solar panels are fantastic and working great! Wonderful investment for the house. Thank you.” – Diana ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 9, 2020

Negative reviews:

“When Covid started I was supposed to get a instal from this company. Not knowing then what I know now a I cancelled the instal only to get a cancelation fee of 1500 dollars It’s been over two years and I guess they are in the cancel business because I never received a phone call or e mail asking when I would like the instal” – Bruce klein ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 27, 2022

Positive reviews:

“Good company and great people. Wish I could have stayed but car insurance issues stopped me. 100% recommend working for this team. Culture is great, the people are great and the pay is great.” – Residential – Energy Adviser ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 22, 2019

Negative reviews:

“The company does not provide advancement even though they try and preach there is. There is always a carrot dangled in front of your face promising you something to benefit them, but results in empty promises for yourself. There is no organization in the office almost seems no one talks to each other at all. Also there is favoritism within the office towards certain individuals and those become untouchable. The office has no idea what goes on beyond those walls all they care about is the job getting done. They have no clue of who is actually working and who’s just on there phone all day. Overall the job is hard labor job working in the heat all year long on a roof. So if your okay with a toxic environment at work and are okay with dealing with slackers in this tough job you should apply to the position.” – Solar Technician ⭐☆☆☆☆ July 26, 2021

“Enjoyed my job as the warehouse manager. The upper management blows through money, don’t plan well. Under pay great workers, mgmt lies to employees, find ways to keep from paying bonuses. If you’re a suck up and like to be a mushroom, it’s your kind of place. I finally was told I would get a helper, after 8 mths., trained him, they fired me. For negativity with coworkers.” – Warehouse Manager ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ March 23, 2020

Positive reviews:

“I had my 11.4kw system installed back in 2018. We also purchased the removal take down package. Because of insurance issues, we had to get a new roof. ESA came out and removed my planels and re-installed them. Glad to know they stand behind their contract because during the whole re-roofing ordeal, a few roofing companies said solar companies are pulling their “customers through the coals” when it comes to removal/reinstall of the solar panels.” – Mike I ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 2022

“Esa solar was awesome. Brooks came and spent time with us showing us the difference between their panels and other companies. They took time to figure how much solar we needed and got us the right amount. We have a huge system 16kW because we have a bigger house and 5 of us. The numbers have been spot on for 6 months now. I love the app, shows how much electricity we are using. How much we are generating, cost savings etc. Duke on the other hand was a pain. My name was Jeff on one page and Jeffrey on another and they Couldn’t figure that math out…” – Jeffrey Fredrickson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 2022

Negative reviews:

“My first appointment of 10/02 had been rescheduled because of a double booking and was rescheduled the following day at 9:30 AM. On Thursday, October 1, I was asked to email my electric bills to that person, which I did. Today, the day I was supposed to have the meeting, nothing at 9:30, so I texted him and asked for the Zoom meeting code. No response. I texted again and asked if we were still having the meeting, no response. I sent 2 “??”, no response. I called the main office and told them this was very unprofessional. Them all of a sudden I receive a text message that the meeting was scrubbed for a family matter. I support family matters but the right thing would have been to inform the customer before the scheduled meeting and not 1 hour later. The person on the phone said she was going to escalade this and get back to me. It’s almost a couple of hours. I still haven’t heard anything. And I can tell that I am not the first person to comment on this. I really don’t know what to think.” – Thierry Housiau ⭐☆☆☆☆ November 2020

“Terrible customer service! I’ve been waiting months to have them schedule a time to come out and fix our solar. Sun power sent the equipment to them and I’ve been getting nothing but the run around. My equipment is just sitting there waiting to be installed. I definitely recommend you find another company if you actually want something done!” – Kids Create Art ⭐☆☆☆☆ November 2020
