“We had a 3.5 kW photovoltaic system installed by Poulin in July 2019. The installation went very smoothly and we have had no problems with it, aside from the manufacturer of the inverter changing the internet connection from 3G to 5G and wanting $500 to upgrade the inverter. The problems began when I started looking into a system upgrade. I discovered that Poulin had installed a 3000 W inverter when the permit plans showed a 3800 W inverter. A check of the contract showed that we had paid for a 3800 W inverter. In addition, we had purchased a warranty extension on the inverter and received a certificate from the manufacturer. However, the serial number on the certificate does not match the number on the inverter, presumably voiding the warranty. It looked like a classic bait-and-switch. I went to the Poulin store, informed them of the situation and requested some sort of explanation from them. I received a call from Steve Poulin a few days later. He very cavalierly stated that we didn’t really need a 3800 W inverter for our system. I pointed out that that was what we had paid for and what the plans submitted to the local government called for. After several go-rounds he asked what I needed to settle this, and I said that at the least they should reimburse me for the difference in the cost of the inverters. Later that day I received a call from Kara and was told I would be receiving a check in about two weeks. Three weeks later with no check and no further communication, I filed a complaint with the BBB. Within two days I received a voicemail and an email from the electrician who installed our system. He acknowledged the error and offered to replace the inverter with a 3800 W model. I informed him that with our planned system upgrade I would need a 6000 W inverter, so getting a 3800 W inverter at this point was of no use. I suggested that Poulin pay me for the 3800 W inverter I didn’t get and they could have the old 3000 W inverter back. That was a week ago and I have not heard back from them. I am not impressed, and would caution anyone considering using Poulin Solar Pro to be very attentive to the details of the installation.” – johnmccandless ⭐⭐☆☆☆ October 12, 2023

“I contracted this company because of their high reviews but after completing a project with them, I’m not sure how they got those reviews. After talking to some other companies first, I decided to use SolarPro for my project. We signed a contract that included electric panel upgrade and the project was slated to complete in four months. The first two months, I barely received any communications from them. When I sent them emails asking about status, it would take a week or even sometimes they don’t respond. The only bright spot is Kara in customer service, when you bypass everyone else and contact her, she was very helpful. After two months and the paper work started moving, I got a notice that my panel upgrade will cost an additional $1500 even though we had it in the contract. I tried contacting the Paulin brothers who are the owners and they did not even make a courtesy reply, nothing different than other times trying to contact the project manager. I was then told that I either pay the extra fee or the project would not continue. It was a tough choice to stay with them but since we already wasted 2 months, I didn’t want to restart the process all over with another company. The project continued to move slow which I understand is due to applications with PNM and the city so they don’t have much control. Once install happened, that was quick and professional with no issues. The project was finished 6 month after start instead of the original 4 months promised. Part of the rebate process with the NM state, SolarPro had to send me forms to complete. It took them 2 months from end of my project to send me the forms. By the time they did and I turned that into the state, the state ran out of money for 2022 projects which I was never told it was a possibility otherwise I would have pushed the completion into 2023. It seemed something very basic they should know. So on top of the $1500 additional for the panel, I was out 10% of the project cost since NM rebates were not possible. So if you ever decide to use these guys, and I wouldn’t understand why, make sure you start your project really early or really late in the year otherwise you can count on not getting NM rebates. Overall, I’m happy with my system and I would get it again but there’s no way I would use these guys or recommend them to anyone.” – Keoma ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 4, 2023

“Searching for proposals for solar & backup storage for the casa – no financing needed. Got 4 bids including one from solar pro. The sales team called me within a couple of hours of posting on a solar web site. Made an appt for a phone consultation, sent the requested info and got a phone call on time. So far so good. It was in line with one I gotten earlier. Since I’m trying to compare apples to apples when something came up I’d get ahold of the Solar Pro guy to clarify this new bit of info. Going great so far, I’m leaning towards going here. Then comes Thursday. Send a question in the early afternoon – no response. Email sent 6hrs later asking about my text & question. Next morning he responds by email & text. Within minutes of getting his response I ask a follow up question. I’m still waiting for an answer. Lack of response before they get my $$$ is a red flag about service after I’ve paid. Sad, but solar pro went from first to worst. “I have a new house with a Square D breaker box. Solar Pro’s system that was just in stalled does not work with the up to code AFCI breakers in my house. My fridgerator and washing machine trip the AFCI daily or more when the solar system is on, but don’t ever trip when the solar system is off. Solar Pro neither warned me of the risk of problems after their site visit, nor took any responsibility for the system not working with my house. They even suggested multiple times that I downgrade my breakers so the system would work, making my system not up to code.The sale representative, Genaro, was wonderful and fought for us all the way to the CEO, but he refused to do anything.
