“Turnkey installation, right down to painting any exposed conduit to match the house. Their standard practice is to run conduit in attic space, but it has to pop out somewhere in order to interconnect with PG&E. Some companies charge more to run conduit in the attic. Not so here, standard practice. My salesperson was Janice. She was very knowledgeable and sold me the right design for my needs. What I like a lot about SkyPower is that they are local so I know that they are right down the road in the event I need some support post install. “SunPower was the right panel solution for my situation because of limited roof space which made the efficiency gains worth the significantly higher cost. SkyPower did deliver on price and timing, but was extremely tough to handle logistically because they were so disorganized. I ultimately got what I ordered, but it took a lot of follow through and re-forwarding of correspondence so make sure you save your paper work and read your contract closely. “Once again Sky Power has provided excellent help. All the extremely heavy rain lately has caused a problem with my roof. While the problem was not with the Sky Power installation the preceding removed (by others) installation of pool solar had left some poorly installed and removed hold down bolts which the sealant began to fail. Sky Power technicians removed some of the solar electric panels and discovered and repaired the problems from the long removed pool solar panels. “I put in a 33 kw system two years ago They have the system monitored by Solar Edge. One of my inverters went out on a panel They called me to say that the monitoring system alerted them They ordered the part and wanted to replace it Everything is covered parts and labor . “Didn’t have a good experience with Skypower. I had a Sunpower inverter that stopped working and I called Skypower , a Sunpower recommended dealer, to inspect and advise of the issue. Max came out next day and identified the 10 year old inverter failed and would need to be replaced. Also , we discussed expanding the system. He said he would provide an estimate and send out a sales advisor to go over system expansion. Great first experience but went bad after the initial visit. Didn’t hear back had to call several times. When I did get an inverter estimate it was twice the cost being sold online plus installation. Felt being taken. Never heard from a sales advisor after three requests. “I wasn’t furnished with the layout plans prior to the construction although I paid for them and they are supposed to be part of the agreement. The panels block some views and are unsightly. They have to be moved to another part of my roof at my expense. The problem could have been avoided with good communication. They are premiere installers for several brands, so can figure out which brand yields the best cost-benefit analysis for you at the time you’re buying, and hook you up with the “extra” warranty some manuf’s offer for premiere installers. If you’re looking to save some $$, they can recommend cheaper manufacturers and explain, in English, exactly how that should affect performance. The reps were exceedingly patient with me and responsive to my voluminous questions. They are one of the oldest solar companies in the Bay Area so have a long track record of good performance. They initially recommended I not get a system, given how frugal my electricity use is (honest!). I got one when I got a plug-in car. Installation was on time and a breeze. Every step was explained to me, and took my input on where wiring should go. System operation was explained to me. “Beware – Don’t use if you are a PG&E customer. The system they designed for me had me giving over $100,000 in free electricity to PG&E over the life of the system. The way they design systems is for PG&E old rate plans, not the current ones. I can’t tell if there sales people are just trying grossly over sell for the commission or if they are just poorly trained.
