“I hesitated before finally submitting my December 2022 PG&E bill to Energy Sage to elicit bids from solar installers. My husband and I were experiencing an inexplicable doubling of our energy usage and going solar was a last resort solution. Then, overnight, bids started coming in. Three promised to cover 100% of our needs. It was only on closer examination that I realized that would require 35 panels and and the removal of our 50-year-old Chinese Elm. Two others took a bit longer but had clearly spent time considering our situation: only one suitable site, a south-facing garage roof. Both provided schematic layouts. Both promised to cover only 46-48% of our needs. One of these two companies was Nationwide Sun, a local company owned and run by engineers. Follow-up consultations, during which we provided them with a summary of our energy usage over four years, and the discovery that our elevated electric usage was the result of a sub-slab leak of electrically-heated hot water led Nationwide Sun to promise 129% coverage with 18 panels. “The five star reviews are real! I couldn’t be happier with Nationwide Sun’s professionalism and our new solar panels and battery. Each one of their employees can be commended for high quality service. Ray was very helpful in providing an education and not a hard sell. Amber from beginning to end was prompt and pleasant, always getting back to me with accurate answers. Jose, head of their roofing crew, was equally good at answering my questions and estimating arrival and departure times. (BTW Having the same company do the roof prep and the solar installation was a real plus for us. If something goes wrong with the roof in the future, there will be no finger-pointing.) The installation crew, beginning with TJ and Lorenzo, cared about their work with obvious pride in how they arranged the conduit on our house. One of the best parts of the whole process was the fire department inspector complimenting the quality of the design and work at final inspection.
