They were horrible and after a monthslong process and ZERO completed, we almost had to sue them to return our money and cancel the project. Chris and OC Solar stepped up and took on the project. That meant, trying to get the NEM 2.0 transferred over. Which thankfully SDG&E allowed, due to our situation. OC Solar went from start to finish with such professionalism it was amazing. They stayed in contact every step of the way. Everything went exactly as it had been laid out to us. We are now permitted and up and running. We can’t say enough about OC Solar. “OC Solar completed my solar installation in 2023. They installed 50 410 Watt Panasonic Solar panels and 2 Tesla Powerwalls. The price was the best, they installed on my light weight tile roof and they got the whole thing done in under 60 days including my HOA approval. The installers were incredibly professional and so were all the project managers and customer service reps i dealt with. They kept me up to date with multiple updates every week. “I’ve been considering adding solar to our home for a couple of years. Having heard positive reports on Orange County Solar, I contacted Walter Armendariz in Sales. Walter explained available options and walked me through the contracting process. The contract was finalized after an onsite inspection verified solar panel and inverter placement. Austin Fietsam, OC Solar Customer Service, coordinated with design team activities, and Courtney Ford, OC Solar Senior Project Manager, oversaw pre-installation activities, including coordination with the City of Torrance. Installation was performed by OC Solar’s installer, Panasonic Solar; they arranged final signoff by the City of Torrance, and coordinated with Southern California Edison to secure permission to operate. From concept to permission to operate took only six weeks which, I am told, is well below the norm. “Talked a good game and everything started fine – but took them several attempts to get city permit signoff, as they kept missing things and not doing install properly. Then they messed up wiring to my house thermostat (the did it originally at start of install and now again after they ‘finished’ install) and now won’t address – one week after install and the second time they did this during the process. Also note you can’t get through to customer service and get anyone live-hard even to find an email address for them. Doesn’t matter though, as they don’t respond to voicemails or emails at all it appears. Been over a week with both a VM and emails and NO ONE EVER has contacted me back. “I decided to upgrade my existing solar system adding more solar panels and a solar battery. Initially, the company was very responsive seemed very professional. That changed towards the end of the completion of the installation. I asked multiple times which breakers were installed on my critical loads panel and still to this day, no one can give me a strait answer. Every time I would ask a question (any question), no one would seem to have an answer and would have to defer to someone else. Luckily, I was able to find someone outside the company to answer my questions and setup the battery how I wished it to be setup. As of now, I have questions about the SGIP rebate which was one of the initial selling point. Even on my original paperwork, they made it seem as if it would be an easy process to obtain. Over one year, SCE has not accepted by application. I have no idea what the status, time frames, or who is the contact to answer any of my questions. Any questions I have, they just cut and paste the SCE website, as if they’re telling me it’s my problem now. Still to this day, I have not received the rebate or any updates on the process. It is understandable that SCE controls the rebate and is out of their hands but having more answers than a simple cut and paste job off a website would be appreciated. It is very frustrating to get the run around to your questions after paying a large sum of money. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Orange County Solar to anyone. I regret every working with this company. Please find another company that value their customers and not treat them like a nuisance. “Waited to see if anything would change with my bill but it has not, it has gotten worse. Used OC Solar to get my panels went with their recommendation on how many panels, made it clear I did not want a charge from electric company. Panels were installed in June of 2024 and in the last year and half by electric bills have doubled sometimes tripled since installing solar. My electric bill before solar was anywhere from $150-$450. Now since paying $17k for solar panels my electric bills are $250-$800. My usage has not change. Makes no sense that I paid $17k and my electric bills go up. I contacted them and all I get it we recommend a battery that’s another 13k. Why was none of this explained from the start? Not helpful after I got solar installed. “I read a lot of positive reviews and I was hoping my experience with this business would be equally positive, but it wasn’t.’Don,’ the sales representative I was handed down to, seemed uninterested and too lazy to provide me with a project proposal. He pretty much said they were booked for the rest of the year and showed very little desire to procure my business.Very disappointing service!If you asked to submit information to provide me with a quote, PROVIDE THE QUOTE, and then you let me decide if I want to wait for your services- or not. “I question the legitimacy of this company’s 5 star rating. I had my solar system installed on 12/9/25, after beginning the process in October with an assurance my system would be fully operational by 12/31/25. It is now 2/5/26 and they still have not managed to successfully complete the final inspection. Three times now we have failed final inspection. 1 time because OC Solar did not submit require paperwork to the city, 2nd time because the solar techs did not show up for the inspection, and also the 3rd time (today) the techs failed to show up for the inspection scheduled by OC Solar. I remain without a fully operational system ( can’t export to the grid), so this ongoing incompetency is now costing me money and also wasting our time and the city’s time. This company is quick to install and take your $40k, but seems unable to actually complete the project. “I signed up wtih Oc Solar to installed solar panels and wall battery back in July with a promised monthly utility bill of $10.55 after the project. The fact is in August, they told me the project is completed and approved so I started sending power to the grid not knowing it was never final approved so for a month, I got nothing from sending the power to the grid and got hit with an extremely high bill. OC Solar found out after I contacted them and got finally got the approval. I thought it would be the end of high utility bill for me but I have been still paying bills over $200 or $300 every month. I just paid $321 for the Jan 2026 bill. No where near the $10.55 they promised and I still have that quote with me. I have contacted them multiple times but only got the service department saying they will look into it. no real action taken. In addition to that, I also referred a friend to install their wall battery. Project has been completed months ago and friend confirmed all payment made to OC Solar but I never see my referral check.
