What Do Customers Say About the Capital City Solar?

Positive reviews:

“We were referred to Capital City Solar by a friend who had a very good experience with them. Our salesman Andy was excellent. Very knowledgeable and thorough. Installation was quick and went great. Everything was cleaned up after job was complete. Their installation crew was great. We have an online site to see what our panels are doing on a daily basis. Love it.” – Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 30, 2020

“Installed SunPower 2 1/2 years ago. Could not be happier with the crews at Capitol City… friendly, professional.. always answered my questions.. always there to resolve whatever issues I had. Even on subsequent maintenance work (minitor unit died), crew showed when they said they would and took the time to explain everything they were doing and the changes being made.. just were great to work with. Highly recommend Capital City Solar and SunPower.” – Greg Turner ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 12, 2018

Positive reviews:

“We love the feeling of being off the grid. We knew that we wanted a battery back up for our solar system but put it off because it seemed like it would be a hassle. It turned out that there was no hassle at all. The project was smooth and seamless. Everyone at Capital City Solar was a pleasure to work with. They are all professional and punctual. We enjoyed having them here.” – Jeffrey F. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ August 22, 2025

“Capital City Solar repaired my system after a technician from Sunwave Energy was unable to fix the problem. Solar expert Ryan Vaughn was quick and professional, troubleshooting the issue and installing new homerun lines and getting the inverter back up and running. It took a week to get them scheduled to do the work, but overall I’m happy that my panels are now producing energy again.” – Kevin F. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ April 25, 2024

Negative reviews:

“Bad business practices.I got a new router and the system didn’t connect easily. This company asked if I wanted a technician. I asked if there was a fee and they said, ‘no as long as it is a problem with the equipment.’ The technician left and I got a bill for $225. I complained that I asked if there was a fee, no one told me the problem, and didn’t give me an opportunity to agree to the exchange. They canceled the fee and then emailed me insisting I pay.Super shady.” – Deanna S. ⭐☆☆☆☆ March 13, 2020

“Erika your response is ridiculous and untrue and you know it. First of all you didn’t even work there when my system was installed. I never dealt with you. Nor have you EVER been out to my site. You are the owners daughter that started working there when Erin quit. You also were rude and NEVER called me back. That is when I spoke with your father (the owner) who actually told me that SunPower refused to pay him what he needs to get paid and that he told SunPower that if another company touches any of his installs he will not touch them thereafter. Your response doesn’t even address what I stated. Just a very poor job of smoke and mirrors. I am very aware of shading and that is why I was told by two other reputable companies that I was not a candidate for solar. Until Capital City sold me a bunch of lies. I have all my records and proof. I should take you to small claims court and I just may do that.” – Kathy M. ⭐☆☆☆☆ January 19, 2021

Positive reviews:

“Capital City Solar just completed the install of a 5 KW rated solar system on my house about 3 weeks ago and did an outstanding job. This is the second system they have installed for me (the first was also 5KW and was installed about 16 years ago and has run flawlessly ever since). The sales rep provided very detailed quotes based on my initial request and then patiently worked with me to finalize the details of the new system. The team did a great job managing the install and going over the operation of the system. Staff provided outstanding support throughout the install and activation process to ensure that the system was properly inspected by the County and approved for activation by PG&E. I plan to do more business with Capital City over the next year or two as I move to a more fully electric house. I recommend Capital City Solar very highly!” – Joe B ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ May 8, 2024

“I am very happy with the job performed. The people who were here were clearly interested in doing a quality job. I will certainly recommend Capital City Solar to anybody who needs solar work done. I think you are the best.” – Hans F ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 17, 2025

Everyone from the owners, sales team, office personnel and installers are very enjoyable to work with.” – Foreman electrician ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ September 25, 2018

Positive reviews:

“They were great. Took 2 days and they installed 29 panels. Crew was great. We would have them back again if we needed them. I have an app to monitor the system. SMUD bill is now $20. and that is the charge to stay attached to the grid which is a must.” – Linda D. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ December 2019

“Great. Erin worked with us to get new boards under warranty from the manufacturer (Fronius) just under the 10 year deadline. Unfortunately, the original installer had been bought out by an Italian company so the service/labor warranty was not available to us. When we weren’t sure we could get the boards under warranty, Erin also clearly laid out other options. The repair technician was efficient and knowledgeable which helped keep the labor costs down. I found the whole organization to be very professional and Erin’s communication (via email mostly) was excellent.” – Karen S. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ May 2018

Positive reviews:

“I just had 12 solar panels installed and the system is up and running as of December 26th. I researched quite a few solar companies and am very happy with my decision to go with Capital City Solar. From my experience with sales (shout out to Brian H.) and Carrie and Nicole in the office my vast amount of questions were answered and I was always kept in the loop regarding next steps and timeline. Once installation time came the crew was professional and did a great job. Thanks to the Capital City Solar team!” – Kelly Tipton ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 7, 2026

“Capital City Solar designed and installed our original system in 2015. They have provided excellent technical support for the last ten years. We contacted Brian to consult about expanding the system this year. We had several discussions regarding the various options and settled on a system to meet our increased needs and a battery to provide energy storage.Clayton, Luka, Josh, and Spencer did an excellent job with the setup and installation. Great design and outstanding quality of work!Nicole and Carrie are the office staff and are the liaisons for customer relations, utility interactions and county building permitting. They excelled in simplifying the various forms and permitting to keep the project moving. They are great to work with.I look forward to working with them in the future and I would whole heartedly recommend Capital City Solar to design and install a solar system.” – Gregory Hanson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ December 2025

Negative reviews:

“I wish I could give zero stars. I was looking to have my solar removed and reinstalled for a reroofing project. I have contacted several companies/contractors to ask for a quote. Capital City Solar charged me $225 just to come out and take a look. I found that unusual since none of the other companies had asked me for money just to give me a quote but I went with it and paid. A technician showed up, took a look around and told me I will get an email with a quote. Couple days later, I receive an email telling me is going to cost some absurd amount… more than 3x any other quote I got. I emailed them back and asked for an itemized quote because I was curious as to why the amount was so high. They responded saying that they can’t provide that since some of the cost were to be calculated after they figure what materials they need. I once again responded asking how they can provide me such an exact number, down to the cents but they can’t provide me with some details as to how they arrived to this number. I demanded an itemized quote since that is what I have paid $225 for. I never heard back from them. So I paid $225, never received what I paid for. I ended up going with a different company which never asked me to pay for a quote and cost me 1/3 of the price CCS quoted me. These are just shady, disgusting tactics to commit clients into absurdly overpriced quotes. Don’t fall for it… do your research!” – Radu Stefan ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2020

“Very bad experience. It took them a month from install until they had my system turned on, one excuse and document problem after another. During that month, I was on the phone constantly, with a bunch of different people – all trained in calming and assuring angry customers, but not in helping or offering any concessions. I finally have my system turned on after a month, and a day before my first payment is due – meaning that in the first month of summer, I will have paid for electricity twice. I troubleshot with at least four people, none of whom seemed to know the situation. Both for approval and actually getting the system turned on, it came down to the gun and I had to give an ultimatum that they would need to pay me for payments if it wasn’t fixed that day; then, they magically were able to fix it in an hour. When all was worked out, I told them how unhappy I was, and they said ‘it wasn’t us it was Sunpower’ – but I started my relationship with them by having their salesman spend half his time during his sales pitch saying how proud they were to partner with a wonderful company like Sunpower, and yet when I had problems they distanced themselves as much as they could. I will not be going back. This would have been a one star review, but they had a very courteous and professional installation team that did quite well at taking precautions during their install during the Covid crisis.” – Sam B ⭐⭐☆☆☆ 2021
