What Do Customers Say About the CEC Electrical Services, Inc.?

yelp.com

Positive reviews:

“Love all the work they’ve done, from removing and replacing lighting for my Reno, exchanging switch plates from old and yellow to white to match walls, adding dimmers, and installing electrical in my kitchen island. Jason, Josh, and Sebastian have truly been a pleasure to work with. I know I’ll need them again in the future and have their number saved! Additionally, their price beat the other proposals in spades. I highly recommend.” – Lisa C. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 9, 2020

“I’m not sure how many times I will be needing CEC’s services in the future (hopefully not TOO often), but you better believe that I have their number saved in my phone! Three days ago the power went out in the guest house we are renting in Montecito. I called the electric company who eventually (two days later) sent someone out. Their recommendation: “”Replace the whole box, its bad.”” With it being 4th of July weekend, it was almost impossible to get a hold of any electricians. When we finally did, Jason was ON IT. He came out to our place first thing this morning and figured out what the problem was in a matter of minutes! Best part is that contrary to what the electric company “”recommended””, we didn’t have to replace a single thing. I was not there when he fixed the problem (my wife was present), but Jason even called me at work after he finished to let me know what he did and how we can possibly fix it ourselves moving forward. We really appreciate him coming out in a crunch on a holiday weekend and will be recommending him to EVERYONE in the future! You the man, Jason! Thank you!” – Tony U. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 3, 2017

Negative reviews:

“CEC installed an electrical panel for us. It started with them quoting us $2500 then changing the price to $3500. They then installed the electrical wiring externally around our patio when we requested it to be wired through our attic (standard practice according to other local electric companies). They told us no. The wiring was not attached to house, buckled out infront of our patio door and was a fall hazard. I asked the owner to return to properly attach to house and he said no, we’d have to pay extra for that. Edison came out to reconnect their wire ( running from electrical pole) to our roof and told us the way CEC had connected it was a MAJOR FIRE RISK. the wiring could have slipped out of the tape they used and lit our house on fire. To top it off, the owner of CEC threatened to put a lien on our house if we didn’t pay right away after I kindly requested he attach the external wiring to house because it was a fall hazard, before paying. CEC WAS/IS A NIGHTMARE. DO NOT HIRE THEM!” – Kristen D. ⭐☆☆☆☆ March 4, 2024

“We were referred to CEC electrical by our Realtors. We had them come out and give us a quote, at the same time, we booked them for the following week. On the quote it said if you have any questions please call or email. We both called and emailed, because we wanted to have our questions answered, and the response was less than customer service oriented, nor was it in a timely manner. I guess both calling and emailing were somehow too much for them, because they passed on our business. It must be nice to have so much business to pass on a $5,000, one day long job. We’ve shared this information with our Realtor, and hopefully they won’t be recommended again. There’s no way we’d ever use them for something as important as electrical systems in our new house.” – M M. ⭐☆☆☆☆ December 5, 2017

Positive reviews:

“Jason, the owner, gave me a quote of $150 total to install two ceiling fans. He and his assistant arrived on time and installed both fans in an hour. Both units are working fine. I plan to have them back to install a ceiling light in my den. I found them to be professional and courteous and would recommend them for this type of electrical service.” – Linda C. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ August 2013

“Jason Carlton is the owner of CEC Electrical Services & has done extensive work on our aging wiring in a house originally constructed in the 1940’s. He has been working on & off here for several years, so I think we are very qualified to rate his work. His communication has always been clear and quick. He’s an upbeat kind of guy which is great when someone is spending hours in your home. He responds quickly when problems come up and takes care of them. He’s always been punctual & on those occasions when something unforeseen has come up, he always has called to explain and reschedule, if necessary. He’s been flexible & patient while we’ve gone back & forth with ideas about what we want to do & fixtures we want to install. I highly recommend him.” – Ann S. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 2010

Negative reviews:

“Had him install commercial lighting and Electrical outlets. Instructed him and his assistant about what the needs were. They proceeded to install electrical totally disregarding the instructions. Assistant was worthless and wasted a lot of time which we were billed for. Outdoor light fell off one day after they installed it. Too many discussions with this contractor who was always taking other calls while on the job and seemed more intent in getting future business then attending to the business at hand. Never around when we had a problem and had his assistant do most of the work. Much of it had to be corrected. Avoid using if possible.” – Vincent C. ⭐☆☆☆☆ January 2014

Positive reviews:

“Definitely use CEC! CEC came to my home for a quick repair a few weeks ago. All i needed to do was just hit a switch on the outlet but i didn’t know this. They felt bad for charging me the standard rate and gave me a big discount. Super kind people, wholesome company. Thank you so much !” – Alexandra Phillips ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 2025

“I work out of the house and having my power and internet down was not an option. I called 4 other companies before I tried CEC. CEC answered my call immediately, gave me a 30 minute window, arrived on-time, were friendly, professional and helpful. They got my power back on within minutes and they showed me what the problem was and how to handle it in the future. On top of that, they deemed the visit a courtesy call. Amazing!!! I will definitely use their services and recommend them 100%!” – Shawna Pevec ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2022

Negative reviews:

“CEC truck cut someone off really badly on the 405 today, then brake checked them when they honked as if it was the persons fault that got cut off. Then proceeded to cross the double yellow line into carpool right behind me and tailgated me to the point I couldn’t see headlights or the emblem on the front grill for almost 20 miles. I’m not sure about their electrical work, but their presence in the community clearly isn’t amicable, this is clearly a company that doesn’t care about those they serve.” – Anonymous Miner ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 2025
