“All the folks I interacted with from getting the quotes, chosing the design and system options, installation, permitting, etc were nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. The process from beginning to end takes a couple months or more, but my system was installed and operational faster than I expected. Some delays in the process came from my side, my misunderstanding. Certasun reps were very understanding and helped me through the entire process. I got a few quotes from other solar installation companies and Certasun had the best finanacial bottom line for me. They told me about rebates/net metering options and educated me on the full amount of SREC and other tax credits I am entitled to and helped me to apply for all of them. “After nearly going with a large commercial rooftop solar company (that pulled out after they said my roof was too high), I was recommended to go with Certasun. “I don’t know why people are giving them five stars. We bought a house a month ago with solar panels from Certasun. It turns out that the system is not working, and the former owner, whom we will sue for misleading us, didn’t inform us, although he was receiving the information from the app. We contacted Jennifer Rickel and Paul Doughty from Certasun. Except for promises that they would fix the problem, Paul Doughty misled us that we needed to register with Comed by sending an address of SunPower. And we have an official answer from SunPower that Certasun is responsible for the warranty. So, for more than two months, we have been unable to use any electricity produced by our solar panel system. “Really great experience. They followed through as promised. Very quick response, very quick service, following the time guideline. They worked with ComEd, helped me with the rebates etc. Their app is pretty good, panels are pretty good as well producing really good energy as promised. I have had it for about 8 months and have no issues so far. They only thing they didn’t mention is that you are paying taxes for the rebate money you received and it was a lot (close to $4000 for $18,304 rebate that I received from the state). “It’s been more that 4 months that this whole process started, they installed the panels in the third month, wait one month for the inspection, and they did not do it right, because the inspection didn’t pass, 2 weeks after still waiting for them to fix the issues. I regretted picking this company for my solar system. “I’ve had an appointment scheduled for a quote for weeks. Received an email regarding whether my building is commercial; it isn’t, which was clarified via email since they called in the middle of a work day. Received cancellation notice week of appointment without reason nor notice via email or voicemail. Disappointed in this service given seemingly solid reviews. “My sales consultant Paul was not concerned about what I was trying to achieve, rather was very aggressive and pushy for me to sign the contract. I explained I am not signing anything until I have a clear understanding. Upon discussing financing and not wanting to outlaw cash at signing Paul said, “Why are you scared Certasun will not put a solar system on your roof?” Really this is the way your consultants talk to your potential customers not taking the time to answer questions and work with the, rather emasculate and challenge them. “When I started the process of looking for solar late last year Certasun was one of the companies that provided a quote. That was the last I heard from them. I emailed back asking follow up questions after receiving their quote. I never heard back from them. I sent additional follow up emails to the rep and still no answer. I received other quotes from other companies and many of those were quick to respond to all my questions. “Since the installation of my home solar panel system, the system has had both performance issues, as guaranteed by the lease agreement, and problems with roof leaks. While the performance issue was eventually addressed, after only being brought to their attention, the roof leak has been on-going and continuous. Both companies (SunPower/Certasun) were at first accommodating to resolve the issues, but recently, they have determined that the roof leak was not do to the solar installation. The roof leaks are located in the same place and right underneath the solar panel mount assembly. I have been trying to get both companies to comply with the mitigation requirements as spelled out in the lease agreement, but as of yet neither have complied. They should not be offering solar services if they cannot follow through on their guarantees. This gives me pause to use solar energy in the future, which is unfortunate, and I certainly won’t be dealing with either of these companies again!” – John P ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 2, 2023

“Certasun is top notch with quality materials, SUPER friendly people at every turn, and making sure that not only do you get great solar energy, but also a nice appearance without conduit running all over the place. I recommend them if you want solar. BUT – it takes them forever. They will not meet the promised timeline. Ours took three more months; during which, sometimes they failed to communicate with us at all. “Contacted and contracted company to install charger and 240. Absolutely no communication after receiving my deposit (1000.00). Never once did I receive any communication regarding the status of a permit or date of installation, nothing!! It’s now 2 months later and I receive an email notifying me that the ComEd rebate is no longer eligible. It was no longer eligible because the company took 2 months to finish or should I say start since they haven’t even started yet.
