“Ecohouse solar installed a 7.68 kw system on the roof of our home. Jeff gave a very detailed proposal specific to our property, and the system should cover 98% of our electric usage. He answered all of our questions, explained the entire process, and showed up for every appointment, whether it was with ecohouse or not (city inspection, electrical work, monitoring equipment installation). From signing the contract to completing the installation took about 4 months, with the installation itself taking less than a day. Our home needed some electrical upgrades due to an old breaker, and were completed without difficulty. Our goal was to produce enough energy to offset the full electrical consumption of our home and electric vehicle throughout the year while simultaneously providing us with daytime backup in the event of a grid failure. We purchased a 16.2KW system consisting of 45 panels, microinverters and added Sunlight Backup for 8 x Circuits. The sales process with Ecohouse was smooth sailing. “Ecohouse installed my solar in Aug. 2019, no problems. Less than a year later the Solar Edge inverter (12-year warranty) failed. A replacement inverter was provided and installed in a timely manner by Ecohouse. Six months on the inverter has failed again. Ecohouse called Solar Edge and waited I decided to call them myself and followed up several times because a second faulty inverted was not expected. “Working with Ecohouse Solar and Mike H***** was a great experience. Mike is very knowledgeable, clearly explained the system and helped us with the 30% tax credit that made this project financially possible. The work crew was very professional, efficient and friendly. The work was done promptly, and the clean-up was excellent. After we started the solar panel part of the project, we decided to add a Generac generator to the system. Mike worked really well with Mid-Ohio Generators to help with the hook up requirements. We strongly suggest that you think about a generator from the start. We are now not only producing our own electricity, but we are also covered in case of power outages. He did a thoughtful evaluation of the house, and gave a really clear calendar of what to expect and when, and the team pretty much met the timeframe they set except for fully predictable challenges around weather and approvals and such. They have gone out of their way to make sure any issues, even some that turned out to not be related to the install at all, were addressed or appropriately considered. “I have had my solar array with them installed for less than 4 years. Install was a huge hassle and they made multiple mistakes where they had to completely redo things. They changed my system size last minute to where I was paying more for less. Every single year my system has had an issue where I have had to pay them more money to come out. My array just went down for the second time in less than a year and they quoted me $500 just to come out and figure out why. They installed a bunch of SolarEdge equipment which fails within a few years (it’s a common issue, you can read about it online.) The inverter that they just replaced months ago due to failing is again not working. I spent more than $150,000 with this company and I greatly regret it. Their warranty is crap because they will only cover anything if you can prove that it was their fault why it failed (you can’t). Manufacturer warranties are okay but you still have to pay EcoHouse hundreds of dollars each time to even swap the failed and warrantied hardware. They assured me I wouldn’t have to worry about my array having issues for 15 years but it’s been every year, sometimes multiple times in the same year.
