“The front end of the experience was excellent. I had lots of questions which Ben answered quickly and completely. The President even got involved when I had questions about the contract terms. But the execution of the project was handled poorly. The paperwork was submitted to the wrong entities and when I questioned that, I was told I probably didn’t know which city I lived in. This resulted in many weeks of delays. I was also told that the jurisdictions typically took weeks to approve paperwork. I followed up directly with the jurisdictions and utility company and found that once they received the paperwork they had turned it around in a week. Despite the delays, the company did not attempt to procure product until just before Thanksgiving and at that time there was no product available. Ultimately I had to settle for a different manufacturer of solar panels. The electronics were wired backwards and although not a safety issue, resulted in the monitoring of energy usage to be incorrect. In short, although I signed a contract for Solar install in September, the system was not properly working until the end of January, causing me to miss the deadline for tax credits for 2020. He designed a PV system for our Hip-style roof with premium modules and competitive price. Their electrician, Patrick, came out to our home before our contract was signed to help troubleshoot the unique electrical panel issues our prior homeowner had left behind. Installation came and the crew were quick and safe, and hid all conduits/wiring. The final product looks exceptional and is outperforming the estimated production. “I cannot comment on the skills of Solar Ecology’s installation or the environmental implications of their work vs others. I am beyond disappointed that the price quoted to me was $3650 lower than what I paid, approximately. I paid approximately $14,000, was quoted approximately $10,500. There are a list of other $-related issues of which I was not aware but much less important: For example, I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t realize that my Xcel bill includes gas AND electric, and solar only takes care of electric. I have no idea if I made the right decision to go solar but I’m certain I do not recommend Ecology Solar. I will never receive the tax rebate.
