What Do Customers Say About the Evergreen Solar?

bbb.org

Positive reviews:

“The company that is effectively a general contractor for a separate roofing company and a seperate solar company. They seem to work exclusively with those companies. So, there are zero problems that most GC’s have with their subcontractors.Excellent to work with – very responsive and ready to share all relevant information. Showed up on time, cleaned up, and as far as I can tell so far did excellent work. Handled permitting etc extremely well. Easy and reliable scheduling.I have already recommended them to many others, including someone looking to do a large commercial job.” – Matthew S ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 19, 2025

“Evergreen solar great company for solar and roof replacement. The representative communication with you from start to finish excellent customer service and the installation team so profession.” – Rayan H ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 22, 2025

Negative reviews:

“NEVER BELIEVE EVERGREEN SOLAR OR THE SALES REP! This business is a total fraud. My sales rep lied to me when they said I could cancel my solar panel installation at any time before the actual installation started. Now, out of the blue, they’re trying to charge me a fake $2,000 cancellation fee that was never mentioned in the contract or by the person I talked to. This is a completely dishonest and wrong way to do business. They were also planning to put a lien on my house without telling me all the costs involved. The paperwork doesn’t say anything about this outrageous $2,000 fee, and the sales rep ‘forgot’ to bring it up at the point of sale. I wasn’t even given anything to sign about how to cancel. This company is preying on unsuspecting homeowners, and the representative is complicit in their deceitful tactics. Stay far away from Evergreen Solar if you want to avoid being ripped off and having your property jeopardized! Ended up signing with another company! Very happy and pleased looking forwards to the installation!” – Calixmarie G ⭐☆☆☆☆ September 12, 2025

“We began getting quotes in July 2025 and signed a cash agreement Sept 1 for an 8-panel system, later revising to include a 5kW battery. Sales was pushy due to tax credit timing, but pricing was mid-range and reviews seemed decent.Install was scheduled for Nov 14 no one showed. Missing parts. Rescheduled to Nov 24. Installers arrived late, visibly annoyed about the small job, and didnt have materials for the battery backup as designed. They installed panels but left the battery sitting on the ground under a tarp I provided. No proactive communication I had to chase updates constantly.Dec 511 involved multiple return trips (ultimately nine site visits) to finish basic items: backer board, wiring, ground rods, debris cleanup, and inspection corrections. Blueprints submitted to the town didnt even include the battery. National Grid paperwork was also wrong (12 panels listed instead of 8), delaying PTO.Battery issues started immediately. It repeatedly dropped to 36% SOC overnight. Enphase found a reversed CT clamp and had to escalate support to stabilize it. It was DC-disconnected for safety at one point. Im still monitoring it for potential premature failure after sitting at low charge in freezing temps for ~60 days.On our first full sun day, I discovered the system is severely inverter-limited. My 440W panels were paired with IQ8+ (290W max) microinverters, clipping ~1.4kW of potential output. No one explained this tradeoff. A more appropriate inverter (IQ8A or IQ8H) would align with standard sizing practices. I signed the paperwork, but expected competent system design. To be fair, the on-site conduit work looks clean. But workmanship cant offset poor coordination, repeated errors, lack of communication, incorrect paperwork, battery issues, and questionable system design.Overall: frustrating, exhausting experience. I cannot recommend this company.” – Caleb S ⭐☆☆☆☆ March 3, 2026
