I to like many people that have had a solar system installed and has had the company that installed the solar system go out of business, leaving me and others without someone to work on our solar systems. “We hired Travis to design and construct our Solar system, based on good reviews online and his many promises of expertise. Travis faked his way along in a convincing manner, until I paid him for the design and permitting phase. Then he ran off, ignored our project, and failed to complete the required HOA permits, he failed to complete the solar system design as contracted, and he failed to apply for County building permits. A real scoundrel, not to be trusted. We filed detailed complaints with the Nevada State Contractors Board, Better Business Bureau, and his Bonding company. All of whom said we need to sue him in court. Warning: when his lips are moving, you know he’s telling false stories. Same for his slime-covered attorney. The warranty was solid, the employees over the phone were transparent and upfront without the cheese sales fluff, the price wasn’t the cheapest but I wanted to make sure the project would start and complete when they detailed in the contract. They handled the whole process, I was only involved when we needed to sign and pay. The install was completed in 2 days because of the size of our system. They were very flexible to work with when discussing the solar design and how it would look from the street. The team that came was very friendly with my kids and animals home. “TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH… they underestimated my solar need (new house, so I don’t blame them for that), but that lead to me needing more solar panels a year later. Here’s the issue- they installed a system that had less solar panels than the maximum that the inverter could handle. I specifically asked them if I could add more solar panels later if their estimate for my energy need was not accurate. They enthusiastically answered “Of course! It will save you money now if you don’t need all of the panels and will give you flexibility to add more later.” Welllll flash forward and year and they have been wasting months of my time slow rolling answering my emails and phone calls. I finally got a hold of one honest person who works there, not in sales, and he said they have a minimum amount of work they’ll do so they’ll only add more panels if I replace my inverter to a bigger one, and add even more panels- about $10k!! If they would have just told me this from the beginning I would have had them install the max amount of panels that my current inverter could hold. SUPER DISHONEST!! On installation day the installers were very professional and got the job done in one and a half days. The hardest part was waiting for Nv Power to swap out the meter to a net meter. We were lucky, we only waited 5 days. “This is a mixed review. We chose Great Basin Solar because of other reviews, as the prices between companies were comparable. The installers were great, and finished in one day. A month later, I started calling to get it online, and they admitted they dropped the ball, and that it was in “the wrong pile”. After three more calls, it was inspected, and online. Another issue arose with payment. Our proposal was based on our paying the balance without financing. We paid the first 6K by check, but wanted to put the remaining 15K on a credit card. Travis told me we’d have to pay $500 extra to do so. I was stunned, and felt this was a “bait and switch”. Travis threatened to have me arrested if I wrote a review that wasn’t complimentary.
