“Greenstar Power installed solar panels along with a new roof on our home in Leander. Just an incredibly great group of people to deal with. And they do know their solar, folks! The new roof and the solar installation were expertly done – and quickly. Since then, any questions we have had have been answered by Nathan, and all the representatives who have come by to check/confirm the operation of the panels and equipment have been knowledgeable and courteous. “I was sold overpriced panels. Also agreed to certain terms as we are on a fixed income, and was sent to a predatory lender. Terms are as agreed upon for 18 months and then go up if 30% of the loan is paid off – a detail not disclosed, and we made sure and asked if the payment was fixed. As long as you give them the tax credit and auto draft, the terms will stay the same – not true. The tax credit doesn’t get the loan to the required balance, and the payments made thus far for the last 9 months have gone to interest. There was no way to pay that amount down in 18 months. We called because we were having trouble with the panels not all working correctly. They never called back. When we called for an estimate to remove them, we were quoted $17k to remove them and lay them in the yard. There is no way I would recommend this company and I’m pissed they were recommended to me. He is knowledgeable in the solar industry, very professional, he’s not pushy when we were talking to him about the solar system and the cost, easy going guy, and very helpful when I have questions about the solar systems we had purchased. “05/2022 We purchased and installed a $95,000 solar panel and generator system. We were promised 6 months of loan payments to “help us out”. We have not received the payment. We have been promised two weekends in a row he would bring the payment and he stood us up both weekends. Our loan payments started in October. I contacted him today and now he says he has Covid again. I just want our payment. This has been almost a year. “At first, REMOVED seemed professional. However, after we did not pass the initial credit check (understandable, as we had just purchased a home and completed upgrades), the experience quickly turned uncomfortable. REMOVED began pushing for a co-signer and even offered a “$1,000 bonus” for any co-signer. I explained multiple times that my brother – the only possible co-signer – had just helped pay for our wedding and was not in a financial position to co-sign. Despite clearly telling REMOVED no, he then suggested we could simply “run my brother’s credit to see if he qualified,” even after my brother had explicitly declined. This was a major red flag. Worse, two weeks later, we discovered that REMOVED ran multiple unauthorized credit inquiries on my husband’s credit report without any consent or communication. This is a clear violation of trust and could also be a violation of federal credit reporting laws. This was an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience. “Do not let them do a patio cover, it was an absolute nightmare. They used wrong gauge of material for the roofing and had multiple holes in the roofing. They never finished the trim – I had to have a roofer come out and finish it. One end was 1-1/2″ out of square. The electrical wiring from the house to the electrical panels only had 13″ of cover and the communication cable was direct buried using a cable that was not rated for direct burial. I had to make them come back and put the communication cable in a conduit and put a couple of inches of concrete above the electrical lines. I still have not been able to get a closeout package from them (operation and maintenance manuals) though I have asked by email multiple times and been told they would send them to me.” – Richard York ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 2026
“Do NOT do it, it is a scam!!!! You will pay more than what they tell you and that 10k money they say you will get is just a credit – the way it really works is you have to owe 10k in taxes in order for it to work. If you owe 10k then you don’t have to pay it in taxes but you have to pay it towards the solar panel loan or your monthly payment will triple. Please don’t fall for it. I was told my solar panels will cover my electric bill but that was also a lie. I was told my solar panel bill would be $150.
