“Hi Definition Solar (HDS) installed our roof top solar system 3 years ago. This summer I received a notification that the largest panel was not working. HDS sent out Marshall from their office to inspect and determine the issue. We have a very daunting roof; high and steep. Marshall handled it perfectly, quickly finding the problem and promised a warranty repair. Today Marshall returned as promised and spent 5 hours replacing the wiring to each panel and the junction box as well as the wiring to our Enphase box at ground level. He did this without additional help. His demeanor was professional and friendly. His obvious knowledge of the system was very reassuring. “I came into High Definition Solar as an employee during the middle of the pandemic. While other Solar companies were closing their doors left and right High Definition Solar was not only hiring but hiring aggressively. I love working here. One of the reasons I decided to take employment with High Definition Solar is job security. Solar companies pop up and dissappear daily. There are extremely limited options when looking for long term employment in the Solar field. High Definition solar not only had the long term history as a company but they also strive to do the right thing daily. “Dealing with High Definition Solar has been the worst experience in my 86 years of dealing with companies. They sold me a system that worked for 8 months until Enphase came out and changed the wiring because High Definition did not set the system correctly. In January, I notified them that I needed the system set up correctly and to make a long story short it is now June, and they will not return my calls or answered my emails. In addition, they misquoted shingling our roof. They claim to be a roofing contractor but they sub the work out. They also told me I could get a tax credit for the portion of the roof that was covered by solar panels but my CPA told me that did not exist. “Joke of a company. Quoted a solar and battery backup that was at a minimum double the price of more reputable competitors with same premium OEMs. Doesn’t bother emailing the quote and just spits out a number on a piece of paper with no price breakdown or itemized list. Was shown the panel, meter, and main breaker was 200 amps already but says it still needs panel upgrade. “Couldnt be happier with High Definition Solar. My solar project (electrical panel upgrade and solar panel installation) went off without a hitch. They arrived promptly at 7:30am sharp and immediately began working. Everything passed inspection with flying colors and both projects were completed in a few hours. Both occurred in the same day. “I had solar panels installed on my house by them in 2015. 10% of the panels stopped working right away and haven’t worked for 8 years. I’ve been spending tons of time over the last 10 months trying to get them to resolve this and trying to micromanage them because people within their own company won’t talk to each other. They came out a few times and it’s like groundhog day. They kept going through the exact same diagnosis steps, kept recommending the exact same replacement and kept getting the exact same result. “They installed a new shingle roof on my house. When the rains came, the roof leaked worse than the old roof. Each time it rained, I called to get it repaired. Each time it was unsuccessful. The roofer seemed to not be able to find the problem. The last time I called, I received not response. It is still not fixed and my ceilings are deteriorating from the water. When that happens they will threaten to cast you aside because you “aren’t the right player for this team.” When I was there I was given the work of three people while still remaining the lowest paid employee on the production team. 70% of the systems they install do not work or there is something wrong with them. On top of that, they do not even have an electrician on their payroll, at a solar company. The project managers were forced to assess problems in these electrical systems with no formal training or PPE. “Called left messages for warranty repairs, this is now the 2nd issue that we have had with this business. First was rain water leaking from the roof down into the enphase unit. Now I have not been able to produce electricity due to shady electrical work, (which I’m very fortunate did not cause a fire and a burnt down building) for a month now. Had SMUD come out to service their meeter which was the location of the problem. Only to find out that it was caused by negligence on the installation.
