“Worked with Justin Urban at Hooked On Solar in 2021 who did an excellent job of guiding me through the solar process. Finally ended up with 22 panels and two batteries. Installation was seamless and done to my satisfaction on a concrete tile roof. I was guided through the PG&E process and received on time correspondence right up to the time the system went into service. “Worst customer service I’ve seen! I purchased their solar system which mounted on the roof. A leak developed directly under the solar posts and is continuing to get worse. I’ve been trying to contact them multiple times for the last month. They scheduled an appointment on 01/26, 10-12 AM for someone to come and take a look but nobody showed up on our appointment. I’ve patiently called them multiple times trying to schedule another appointment. They promise that Taylor will call me back to take care of the issue and that never happened. I have the warranty contract in my hand and am very unsatisfied with their customer service. When a customer signed up for the solar system, it’s a long term commitment and we trust Hooked on Solar to keep their promise when issues arise. I definitely don’t see Hooked on Solar’s attempt to work with me to resolve the issue. Now, it’s raining again and I am very worried. I’ve patiently tried to connect with them and failed, I might have to consider alternative escalation including legislation (which I don’t prefer). I shared my story here so everyone who is considering Hooked on Solar, please be careful. “We chose Hooked on Solar because they had their own installation team, even though they were higher priced than some of the other quotes we had. What a mistake that was. During installation their electrician surged our home, causing thousands of dollars in damage, blowing up our lights, pool pump, garage door opener, and other things. While the team has paid to replace those things, this was two months ago, and after near weekly calls asking when someone was going to come repair our home, we still don’t have resolution. We have been unable to open our garage door for two months. The new appliances have still not been installed. They still haven’t painted our home from all of the plaster they had to rip off and replace during installation, and their workman left an absolute mess at our home that still hasn’t been painted or cleaned up (not to mention the app to monitor production usage wasn’t working correctly at first due to an error during installation). “I spoke with Alfredo about a month ago and he walked me through resetting my solar panels. He was so helpful through the process. I learned what to look for and forgot his name a few times but Alfredo was extremely patient. He made sure to go over all of my options, potential costs and with those options and how I could further look into the issues that I was facing. Alfredo even stayed a little later just to make time for me to call him because I was running late. Alfredo is what I would want all customer service experiences to feel like. “Brand new house that had SunPower included. Wasn’t given any options on who to use and it’s been a nightmare. They have sent 4 techs out and still can’t get my panels to work! “This company will fight you tooth and nail to reimburse expenses incurred in your personal vehicle. Do not work here if you dont want your car getting burned up. Drove 40k miles and finished off a set of tires and have no reimbursement for it. Constant drives to and from the bay are regular and again, none of the gas is reimbursed. On top of making you drive to the bay in your personal car they will be on your butt about hours if the job is finished in under 8 hours, even if you drove to the bay from Sacramento. Working here ruined my savings by having to subsidize their operations. “This company has a lot of potential and most of the staff is great to work with. If you take a chance working here you may be happy, but that may be short lived. You are replaceable and that will be made known. There aren’t many opportunities for advancement unless someone quits, then you may be put in a position you are entirely unequipped to handle. Raises and reviews just get swept under the rug. There is a 40 year old girl in sales that works there that tries to befriend everyone but creates a toxic, hostile, high school like environment. If you can keep away from her and stay on the good side of the office you can succeed here temporarily. There has been high turn over multiple times and high is not an understatement. I recommend reading all reviews and preparing yourself for what type of environment you’re getting into. “They came highly rated from family but my experience is horrible. They installed panels on a roof that was 7 days old. After they completed the install I had to have the roofers come fix a ton of holes there installers put in the roof. They attempted to hide one area where they tore a shingle by putting Henry’s patch on it. (This is on a $30,000 roof). The first time they were ok to deal with paying for the repairs. But while the roofers were fixing the roof they discovered multiple shingles that the installers tore under the panels. I have been trying to get ahold of them for a month now to get them to remove the panels so my roof can get fixed before winter but nobody will call me back. There installers were incredibly unprofessional don’t show up till 10a.m and leave early, foul language with my kids running around, And absolutely horrible work done. I think this business grew to fast. I wouldn’t recommend anyone use them.
