What Do Customers Say About the Hot Purple Energy?

solarreviews.com

Positive reviews:

“Our experience with Hot Purple Energy was phenomenal. Every person involved with our retrofitted PowerWall installation and EV charging station was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. We had individualized service that incorporated our concerns, needs and current equipment to create a customized, streamlined solar system. We had constant contact and updates on the progress of the installation and technical assistance. I highly recommend Hot Purple Energy for any solar needs.” – Pam ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 3, 2024

“We have had our system installed by Hot Purple Energy for slightly over 1 year. I do not have enough good things to say about them. They worked with me when I told them that I had no use for LG equipment and wanted something else, so I got it. They have monitored my production and advise me very, very quickly when there is a problem. They then schedule corrective action to be taken within a couple of days. I have not had any surprises about my “”true up”” bill but Edison certainly needs improvement on their billing process. Edison’s monthly fees are poorly explained by Edison. The staff at Hot Purple treats me like a friend at all times and has been very, very patient with my questions. Even the techs who cleaned the panels this year and the ones who service my batteries and inverters. I listen to my neighbors who have used other providers and they definitely are not getting the same level of service Hot Purple has continuously provided over the last year. Thank you to all of them.” – Joan Adler ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ May 24, 2023

Negative reviews:

“Great marketing – but poor follow up once the installation is complete horrible attitude when system goes down system work fine for the first year – then goes out next two summer – result customer looses the benefit of peak summer performance and hit with huge yearly bill which wipes out any financial benefit – Company indifferent – after all they got the up front payments and no longer care. Warranty misrepresented as covering whole system – instead 20 year plus warranty only covers panels – not the inverter and its the inverter that shuts off production- Just remember – if the customer complains – The customer is rude – because, well you know!” – Disappointed ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 13, 2022

Positive reviews:

“After speaking with several solar companies we chose Purple Energy because pricing was good and they responded immediately and helped us with things like the tax credit when others would not. They laid out a detailed plan and updated us on a daily basis. Everyone who worked on the project was so nice and professional. It was done on time with no issues. This is one of the best companies we have ever worked with.” – Denice H. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 25, 2026

“If you are planning to get solar or need service given all the drama in the marketplace right now, contact Gary Moore at Hot Purple Energy. Gary and literally the whole team at HPE have been absolutely amazing. I can’t imagine being more pleased.” – Paul B. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 26, 2025

Negative reviews:

“I have to say that the company salespeople seem to feel that business is so good they do not need to respond to customers asking for quotes. I was told they were a good company on the product and install side. Good luck with getting to a point you find out enough to actually order from them. Been waiting 2 weeks to hear back from them after calls. Forget them. Too much frustration. Dislike companies too big for their britches.” – Pete E. ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 8, 2022

“A rep Came to our door in Monterey country club from hot purple energy. when I said I was already going with Fernando, they said oh he got fired from our company a few weeks ago we’re here to offer you a better deal and take over his deals Fernando has never worked for that company he has only worked for harness power and that’s why we are going with him because he was honest and truthful. We don’t appreciate being lied to nor given false information.” – Lynn W. ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 22, 2021

Positive reviews:

“I have worked at HPE for almost 4 years and have to say it’s the best place I’ve ever worked. The culture is very laid back and easy going. That’s not to say we are not expected to do our jobs and are encouraged to be our best. Management listens to us when we have ideas that could help the team and the company overall. Altogether it’s a great team of people that work together and get along well.” – Sales Consultant in Palm Springs ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ May 31, 2023

“I’ve worked here for 10+ years and think this is a great place to work. Nate Otto, the owner/president, is like a second father to many of us, and this is the type of place that treats the dedicated, hard working employees like family. For the types of employees that are willing to put in the work, the opportunities for advancement are limitless. You see very few companies with as many long-term employees as Hot Purple Energy and there is a reason for that.” – Manager in Palm Springs, CA ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ May 31, 2023

Negative reviews:

“-recieved 0 training -i was missing hours on paycheck -this company sucks allows there employees to drink beer on company property -i was never offered 401k – overall this isnt a good place to work everything they do is against osha standards Find a better company to work for” – Supposed Crew Lead ⭐☆☆☆☆ November 22, 2022

“Unless you are looking to be lead to believe something and then isn’t followed through with and/or lied to don’t waist your time. Very unprofessional and zero consistency.” – Installer ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 11, 2020

Positive reviews:

“Hot Purple Energy was very professional throughout the entire installation process and continues to be to this day. All questions are answered promptly, and the teams they have in place are all knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend them, and I am so pleased that I chose them after interviewing many other companies.” – Jon Angle ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 2026

“I recently purchased a home with a owned solar system installed by Hot Purple for the original system. I had no personal experience with solar energy and I had so many questions about how the existing system operated, and was so impressed with the attentive and timely customer service outreach that Nate and his team provided to me as the third owner of the system! They made me feel like I was in very good hands to get the most out of the system they installed, and notwithstanding the age of my system, their standing fully behind it and assisting me with warranty claims going forward.” – Patricia K. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 2026

Negative reviews:

“Analyzed my proposal and believed no savings will be realized. Showed analysis to rep that most people will not save and asked for him to re check. Asked for feedback more than once. Rep went silent. Makes me wonder if commercials are misleading???I appreciate the response. The truth is your firm went silent on me. Putting this in my court is not correct. I have moved on at this time.” – Brian ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2021

“Very disappointed that we spent over $40k out of pocket for our system one year ago. Exactly one year in, our inverter went kaput. HPE claimed they didn’t have any in stock and that the inverter was on back-order which would force us to go about a month with no solar from July and into August in Palm Desert (average temperature has hovered well over 100 degrees daily). The inverter was finally replaced yesterday. The product was warranted by the company, but HPE finds no obligation to provide us a credit (besides one free washing of the panels) for the electricity we were forced to buy from the electric company (this is a significant expense amounting to nearly $1000 or perhaps more). So HPE warrants the equipment, but when it goes down, we are forced to pay because they have the item on back-order? What if back-order is months or a year? We still pay? A company that stands by their warranted product should keep their customer free of economic injury when the product goes bad and they are forced to wait for the repair. My requests for credit went ignored.” – Martin Yost ⭐⭐☆☆☆ 2023
