After 28 years in this residence and three other HVAC companies servicing our units, our home now holds the temperature the thermostat is set at. “Terrible. I have spent close to $40,000 with this company over 25 years. Last week I had a water heater that started leaking and was under warranty — the technician said I would only pay for labor. The tech was there less than 3 hours and my bill was $890. I was told they charge $189/hr and the rest was for storage of the water heater and pipe fittings — $300 to store a water heater and a few fittings. Absolute highway robbery. “Used to be much more responsive and competitive with better service people. Paid them a lot of money over the years only to find out they missed some important electrical issues in my heat pump. “I’m grateful for the time I’ve spent at JK Mechanical. I started as an office assistant scanning invoices and typing notes and advanced over the years to Job Specialist. My manager was great and supportive both of my current job and in my desire to advance my career, even when it meant leaving her department. I also appreciated her flexibility and understanding around health issues. Workplace culture is very friendly and helpful. Hardest part of the job is probably how busy it gets seasonally- in May when it gets hot for the first time it can be pretty crazy. “Most employees are nice and pay is decent, but that’s to keep you there. The 401k match is really low, management wants you to work long hours to make up for profit loss due to office miscommunication, and lack of training creates callback issues that employees take the financial hit on. “I’ve been using them for 13 years and they have repeatedly failed to hold up their promises. They sold me a maintenance program and promised to remind me of scheduled service calls — twice now they failed to contact me and I lost paid services as a result. During an air duct cleaning they removed a vent from the wall, ripped the drywall, and damaged the paint — then tried to cover it up. Instead of cleaning a vent I complained about, they replaced it with a cheaper one from their truck without asking. “I used JK to replace a furnace, water heater, and air conditioning unit, plus other repairs. After the AC unit was replaced, something was causing it to constantly run in one room. JK came out and replaced a damper, charging a few hundred dollars. The following summer the exact same issue returned.
