Kokosing Solar review

Positive reviews:

“It was great working with EVERY person at Kokosing. Everyone was easy to work with, knowledgeable, and responsive! The installers/electricians are experienced. They knew exactly what to do and made everything look great. The salesman (John Miller) presented and explained options, which none of the other solar companies mentioned to me (unless I asked them). John quoted microinverters, while more expensive, were better for my L-shaped layout. Also, Kokosing was unique in proactively quoting 405w panels, which means a more compact design (less roof area needed).” – PJ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 2, 2023

“Very transparent process from start to install. Forthright, friendly and responsive to any and all questions or inquiries during sales, planning and installation. No hard sale re: sale of system. Installers were cordial, efficient and timely. System went on line a week ago. The monitoring capability via “Enlighten” is a great tool.” – Solarites ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ December 21, 2022

Negative reviews:

“We had a 30 panel system installed by Third Sun. They did a good job and the system has worked well. Last year one of the panels went bad and we contacted them about the warranty. The panels are from LG. We were told when we contracted with Third Sun that if there was a warranty issue, we could go through them. When I reminded them of this they said they would look into it only to send an email a few days later saying they could not get in touch with LG. They basically said that it was our responsibility to contact LG but would not even supply any information about how to do that. The next issue has come up recently. When we purchased the panels we specifically asked what the cost would be for them to remove and replace the panels if we had to have the roof replaced. They told us that is would cost around $4,000. We are now having that done, so I contacted them and the price they now give me for removing and replacing the panels is over $19,000. Even given inflation this is outrageous. After the government tax rebates that is only a few thousand less than the original cost of the whole project and I suspect that we could put an entirely new system in for not much more than that. The message is beware of this new incarnation of Third Sun. Whatever integrity the original company had is apparently gone, so do not expect any help or service from them after installation. We are not only committed to solar but also in another area of the solar business, so we are well informed about costs. Kokosing is not a company with which we would advise doing business.” – James B ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 23, 2024

Positive reviews:

“Our local Kokosing Solar installed a solar system for our house and garden area. The design team did a great job meeting the challenges of my project. The installation team did a great job with installation. 6 months in and the system is surpassing our expectations in savings. I’ve been a builder for 30 years and I am impressed with everyone I worked with at my local Kokosing.” – Jeff L ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 17, 2024

Negative reviews:

“Don’t waste your time if you want to go off grid! I really wanted to support a local business but they won’t offer an off grid solution. Reading about how the company was started you would think they would want to help others do the same. Such a shame they turn away local business.” – Nick B ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2021

“Poor experience with Third Sun Solar. This is my second solar install at my property (first was a 52 panel ground mount). My second solar install was for 18 panels and two Tesla Powerwalls. The installation crew came to my house with an incorrect circuit / load panel design after I spent months, many emails, and numerous phone calls with the sales team. Date on my installation diagrams was months before my install so the design was never reviewed for accuracy. The install team completed the design “on the fly” just hoping it would work / be correct. Project managment team seemed non-existent and frustrated that I couldn’t “deal” with the issues for this $50k install. Now more than a month later they have still not set up my Enphase app nor have I received notification of scheduling for inspection with local authorities. I do not recommend this group. They are distracted with the recent acquisition of their organization or way understaffed to support the rate of design, install, and system management. I regret my decision at this point. The Third Sun team has had a month to make this right before my review. They have done very very little to attempt to make this right. Buy somewhere else!” – Tim Hudson ⭐⭐☆☆☆ 2022
