However, when our friendly representative from KOTA (Jake Rodgers) visited our door and mentioned that the federal solar tax credit was extended, I decided to sit down and learn more. I am glad I did! Jake explained the process, benefits, and financial breakdown very well and answered all my questions. He was also patient when I asked him to come back in a few days, so I had time to get other quotes. After doing more research and looking at competitors, I decided to move forward with KOTA. Throughout the whole process, Jake kept us up to date and answered questions, stopped by for all the key steps, and was courteous and professional. The whole process was surprisingly quick, and it now feels great to be generating solar energy for less cost than I was paying the utility company. “My wife and I had a great experience purchasing solar from Kota. We enjoyed working Ray. He was knowledgeable, responsive and easy to talk to. I never felt he was pressuring us into anything we didn’t need. I am confident that Ray helped us choose an appropriate system that was correctly sized based on our energy usage. Installation was completed without any issues and I felt good that the crew knew what they were doing. The installation was completed by Kota employees rather than contractors, which I believe is hard to find in the solar industry these days. The whole process was super easy and straight forward. Kota had our system turned on much faster than I was expecting. I’ve had other family members use Kota for their solar installation and were just as happy as we are. “Kota installed solar panels right next to an old hot water heater vent that prevents 2 of our panels from performing at full capacity. At first Kota refused to address the issue and basically said the pipe is the problem. That is exactly my point. They are the experts so why would they propose putting the panels so close to the vent in the first place. After dozens of attempts to get them to address the issue they finally scheduled a day to come out and look at the issue. An hour before the appointment they texted a cancellation message saying they’d get back with me with a new day. They didn’t do so. After another call they had me on hold once again. They then proposed charging me to remove the panels while I paid another company to remove the vent and then Kota would charge me to reinstall the panels. It has been maddening trying to deal with this company after they received payment for the panels and installation. I expect them to take responsibility for their error and make this right in order for us to get 100% out of our panels. We specifically went through all of our future electrical needs when deciding on the number of panels to install and now we are not getting what we paid for. They are straight up with me about the steps of the process and they delivered. We agreed upon 12 panels and it is paired with a battery made by a company Enphase. The app they have is where I can check whenever the kWh production of my system now. Tate was really great and professional. He was here with me during the roofing and solar installation. “They have very poor communication skills they don’t answer your emails or texts for days or weeks. If you’re lucky .they installed the solar panels in one day in April 2023 they also installed a panel box but they never passed inspection so they have never connected my solar panels and I am paying the bank every month and Solar is not even running and it’s already going to be October 2023 I would not recommend this company and the representative is Anthony Castillo and the contractor is Cole De Arman If anybody has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. I am having a lien put on my home and ******* is unfinished. “Im currently in the process of trying to get **** to come out my property because our solar system has been off line for 4 weeks. I have records of emails and voicemails left for them to fix problem but all I have received is an email thats says they will be in contact to schedule an appointment to come out. All the while our SDGE bill has skyrocketed. If I could go back and demand our solar company use a different contractor for panels I would! DONT DO IT DONT USE THIS COMPANY. They dont care about customers and dont conduct their communications in a prompt or timely manner for service needed. Im still waiting for a response from them. “I do not recommend this company, they installed my solar panels on my house on September 29th, since then I receive an email every week saying that my panels with begin working in 2 to 4 weeks. I had an inspection done by the city in January and it did not pass because of a circuit breaker which wasn’t installed correctly. The finance company has already paid the full amount to them, I have already received three bills from December, January, and February and my solar panels are still not working.
