“I was happy to get solar I haven’t had it long and it has been the winter so they haven’t had much of a chance to produce. But I was never told that the power company would tax me on it with the tax and the solar payments they cost more that just paying the power bill. I feel I have been scammed and all I am told is cut down a hundred year old tree that I trimmed back already. They are getting plenty of light just wasn’t expecting extra cost. “We initially consulted with both National Solar and another company for our project. The other company told us that they couldn’t even match the National Solar price that we were quoted so we went with National. Everyone we worked with from National Solar was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They provided excellent communication and customer service from the first consultation to the final installation of our new solar system on our shop building. They coordinated everything with the power company, permitting, inspection etc. and kept us informed every step of the way. All costs were true to what was estimated up front. Then we had a gentleman come over and got a brief explanation of the process. After we had agreed to sign up with them, there were maybe 2-3 documents for me to electronically sign, but other than that, they took care of all the local / state / and power company paperwork. We did encounter one small hurdle with the paperwork, but it only delayed the process a little bit. They still took care of it all. “This company sold us a system for $22,000 telling us we’d get an average of $150 per month off of our electric bill. The salesman also told us we would get money back on our federal taxes that we could apply to the balance due on the account (they had in house financing). To date, the highest average we’ve had is $52 month power generated. As far as a tax refund, it was a TAX CREDIT. No money is received. We are now paying $278/month to get approximately $52…. no where near what we were told we should generate. The touch screen monitor they provided so we could see how much our system is producing has stopped working twice. And lastly, we have to call and call to get any help or try to get any answers. It has been the most frustrating thing we have ever been through. As far as I’m concerned, we were scammed. “So much for being happy with this company. I paid $48,000.00 (I should get about $11,000.00 in rebates on my taxes) for solar panels from this company. After having them for a couple of months I really was not seeing much difference in my electricity bill. I tried contacting them and each person I reached told me to call someone else. I wanted someone to check my system and verify if it was in fact working correctly. I contacted PGE and after several attempts finally reached someone that could tell me how much this very expensive solar system was taking off my bill. The greatest monthly credit to my bill was in August and that was a whopping $131.00. The lowest was $31.00. This company did an analysis of my electricity usage and led me to believe that I would probably at the end of the year have an excess of credits. I was also led to believe that this system would pay for itself in about 7 years. If you are thinking about going solar find someone else. Also get all of their promises in writing. This was not an investment but was an extreme rip off. And don’t forget that you will also need to reroof your house before panels are installed.
