“We own a ground-mount PV array that produces electricity for our 2-family household. We were interested in adding battery storage to optimize the system, save money, and integrate with the charging station for our two plug-in cars. We are on a net-metered rate that made the analysis and design challenging. NuWatt Energy’s solar specialist Uzair Ahmad worked with us and developed a system design and quote. He was great to work with, backed up by the company’s engineering staff. Uzair listened to me carefully and went through a number of iterations to refine his design. “We had a terrible experience with NuWatt. There was no communication with NuWatt once the deposit was taken. We had to do some electrical work in the house prior to installation and requested they speak with our electrician to make sure the solar panels would be supported. We gave them plenty of notice and requested a short phone conversation. NuWatt kept promising to speak with him, but they never did. We called NuWatt every day for 4 weeks. NuWatt made promises everyday this would be taken care of, but it never happened. We requested a new Project Manager, and they refused our request. In addition to the lack of support, they had to change the estimated install date, but never communicated it to us. During the sales process they promised to support us during the work on our house to make sure it integrated with the schedule, but they failed at this promise. We signed the agreement 8 months ago. We canceled after such a horrible experience; they sent some made up documents to “show work that was already completed” to reduce the amount they would refund to us. We were told by Enphase that we needed to contact the installer and have tried multiple times to contact them with no success. “Everyone we worked with from NuWatt was professional, and they have designed and installed a solid system that can be expanded in the future. They recommended high quality panels from Panasonic with enphase converters. The system worked perfectly since the day we turned on the switch. We had a few challenges with the scheduling to coordinate with the roofer ahead but they could navigate through that and got the system installed shortly after. The staff were responsive to questions and informative throughout the process. The customer service has been also very responsive to our questions even after the installation was completed. “I would give zero stars if I could. We signed a contract in March, we were told we would have solar panels in June. Every single step of the process was a problem. EVERY SINGLE STEP!!! People would leave and the people that took their place, evidently didn’t have access to the projects that were supposedly in process. At least not until I called after not hearing anything and talking to each new person. This didn’t happen once, but several times. I finally was put in contact with Jeff Kopelson. Jeff understood that when you’re doing business with someone, communication and doing what you, when you say you’ll do it, was the way to do things. We should have been taking advantage-of the sunny weather charging our solar panels in June July, and August. But that didn’t happen since the solar panels that we were contracted to get in June; we’re not installed unti late October. we were also told we would get a $250 rebate check after the job was done
