“Olson Solar provided service and installation of solar systems in two of our homes. The first one was a reinstall of a system that was removed by the previous owner. This was complicated because our electric company had never had that happen belore. The staff at Olson took that on, and they really made it all work. They made multiple visits to make the appropriate connections and worked very well with our electric company. I do not think we could have done it without Olson Solar. The second installation was a brand new one so it was easier on us. Once again, Olson Solar took care of all permits, site readiness and the installation was painless. They were all so pleasant to have around the house that we missed them when it was all done. When I have questions of any kind, they are very responsive. “We originally had installed our solar system with 14 panels. Several problems resulted from this installation. We found that when multiple problems occurred, Olson’s did not respond. We were left with the opinion that Olson’s approach to address issues was to ignore them and hope they just go away. Later we decided to increase the number of panels. Unfortunately, we needed to go back to Olson’s, which proved to be an error in judgement. Same issues as before. The project manager would not respond to issues. There was a large amount of damage done to our yard. As requested, we took pictures. Sent them out which resulted with unfulfilled promises that Olson would fix. We were so frustrated that we wrote a 3-page letter outlining issues and sent the letter along with the pictures and copies of emails to Cameron Olson himself. Again nothing. “Took out a loan for solar- figured I would be growing towards energy independence and the system would eventually pay for itself. Wrong. Since having solar installed, I have almost doubled my electricity consumption. It’s as if the energy I am producing is being charged as if I am using it. This has been a bad experience from the beginning. They bored under my blacktop driveway and heaved it up. They installed a monitoring system for my solar and it hasn’t worked in 3 months. Nobody will help me troubleshoot. When the system was working, I constantly had one panel that wasn’t producing solar. If you want to fight constantly with your system, go ahead. We had the panels put up after 6 months of waiting only to find out they did not have the correct approvals from the power company and let us on a waiting game for a month and a half of lies telling us they would be hook d only to tell us we needed $10000 more over the quote. Then a month after this tell us that we would need another $20000 more to have functioning panels. So we took them out. “Worst experience. We were very excited to get solar panels and at first it started out ok but then everything went wrong.we started the process in May and had to fight to get any updates with when this is going to be put up. Finally put up the panels in November and after the panels are put up they finally had the master electrician out just to find out they we need to come up with $10000 more dollars to have the panels hooked up! They never had the correct approvals and lied to us for 2 months that every week they were going to be hooked up until finally we ended up taking them out because they never got the correct approvals from the power company. And in the midst of all these problems the owners never once apologized and instead told me that I stress them out and that they would not talk to me and hung up on me. Let’s be honest this was nine months of stress on our part and yes there was some hot moment because we were starting to think that we did not matter and were being taken advantage of. “We have had some ups and downs with our Olson Solar experience. We started working with them over a year ago and were impressed with their competitive quote and the positive experience of a family member who had them do his system. Since then we’ve had some ups and downs. Their installation schedule kept getting pushed back from beginning of September to finally getting the panels installed just before Christmas. Throughout this time they didn’t reach out to inform me of the delays due to supply chain issues. I had to keep calling them to find out about the change of plans. After the panels were installed they still weren’t functional for several weeks as we waited for electrical hook up. When they tried to connect the system to the grid they discovered it hadn’t been wired correctly. We finally went live in late January. Since then we had a panel go bad and after weeks of complaining they replaced it completely and it was covered by our warranty. Their service department has been helpful when we have had issues and we have been happy with our system’s production and the app where we can track our system.
