What Do Customers Say About the Project Solar?

consumeraffairs.com

Positive reviews:

“A family member who also used Project Solar referred me to them and I had a good experience. The purchasing process was no pressure and they hired Freedom Solar to do the installation. It’s been six months since it was set up and I’m noticing a difference — I’m definitely saving on my energy bill. It was worth it given that they’re fairly low-priced versus competitors.” – Yosuar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ August 16, 2025

“I talked to a salesperson to go through and get a formal quote. It was great that I could do the first base level part of the quote online. I like the process that they had set up. It worked well. The quote was great. There are no surprises, which is good. After the contract was signed and payments were made, and when working with the other party for doing the install and set up, it’d be good for the Project Solar guys to be more responsive to questions. It took a couple of days sometimes, which should have been done same day. That piece could be improved.” – Jason ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 19, 2024

Negative reviews:

“A review of the Better Business Bureau will reveal a consistent thread of issues: poor communications, lack of proper record keeping, and poor skills in their chosen field. The sheer volume of email required and the 10+ months my project took made any savings not worth the time and effort. The only saving grace was that the sub-contracted installer was good — their electrician had to throw out Project Solar’s design because it was not in compliance with electrical code. People stuck with a poor installer are in even deeper trouble. Even worse, they wanted to trade bad but truthful reviews to settle a dispute.” – Nicholas ⭐☆☆☆☆ August 22, 2024

“My local solar installer warned me that using an outside company was a bad idea. The Project Solar salesman called it a ‘scare tactic.’ I should have listened — 10 months in and I still don’t have solar that was bought and paid for. Extreme difficulty getting answers or problems resolved with either the sales company or the installation company. The nearest service person from the installation company is 5 hours away. I now have $30k worth of solar and battery that is useless. Do not use this company — go directly through a local installer.” – Lindsay ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 24, 2025

Positive reviews:

“Project Solar was both knowledgeable and receptive to my needs, all while being less expensive than the big guys. Their installers and equipment are some of the industry’s best.” – Mark S. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 14, 2024

“I have the inverter, two expansion packs, and three 200-watt solar panels. I installed the transfer panel and have 4 circuits connected. I can run my fridge, living room, and master bedroom/bathroom indefinitely. Great product and peace of mind.” – Robert S. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 14, 2024

Negative reviews:

“I started with Project solar in December of 2022. They got through permits in September of 2023 and had materials delivered in late September. Their installer came onsite for two days in October and left the job unfinished. It is now December 2023. They have not been back or communicated with me since October. I will be finding a local installer and canceling my contract with Project Solar.” – Scott M. ⭐☆☆☆☆ January 5, 2024

“I would give them 5 stars for the process of design, installation and financing, everything went fine there, but the support brings it all down to REMOVEDsystem started failing a few months after going live, half the panels stopped producing. I contacted support on September REMOVEDI haven’t heard from them since. No replies to email request for updates.I went up to the roof and found the problem to be one of the connectors and was able to make it work again, but it worked a couple of days and failed again. I emailed them to notify them of that and requested they send someone to replace the faulty connector, I even sent pictures of it. No one has contacted me again. I was able to make it work again but it is a matter of time before it fails. If I hadn’t been able to make it work, I would have been without a functioning system for over two months by now, and of course still paying for it. A system with no support is worth nothing when it fails, so I consider support one of the most important aspects of any project, and Project Solar totally failed on that. I cannot recommend them to anyone.” – Gustavo V. ⭐☆☆☆☆ December 6, 2023

Google Reviews

Positive reviews:

“Plans, permits, parts and materials, support and everything else was outstanding. The price, however, was ridiculous — 3 times cheaper than any other company could offer.” – Ivo Pavlov ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 2026

“This was my second time going solar and I was getting many outrageous quotes from other companies in South Carolina. Project Solar was by far the most honest and helped me get my 18 kW ground mount with battery backup installed and operating quickly. I would highly recommend.” – Mdemo1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ May 2025

Negative reviews:

“I paid cash in full for 4 solar systems on my multifamily property. The system was installed improperly and it took 2 years to get operational. It worked for about a year and quit working again 8 months ago. Project Solar has failed to do anything and is not honoring the warranty. I have a paperweight on my roof providing no electricity and they will not return my calls. Stay far away from Project Solar.” – Christopher Bills ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 2026

“Got Project Solar in 2023. After hail damage I’m trying to get my roof replaced before timing out on an insurance claim. Project Solar reps are saying my warranty is with TriSmart the installer, not them. I can’t reach TriSmart and Project Solar is saying I have to use their roofer only and work only through them. I paid Project Solar $24k, not TriSmart. Reps continually point fingers at one another. After-sale customer service is really bad and they don’t want to honor their warranty.” – Rob Flanagan ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 2026
