“We had SEM install both solar panels and Enphase storage batteries. Other than the length of time (Covid related) it took to get our system installed and up and running we had no real complaints except for lack of communication. It was extremely difficult to get answers to our questions. That should have been our first clue. The system is working but we are having ongoing problems with our battery backup engaging as it should during a power outage. We have been trying to get this problem resolved through SEM/Enphase but it seems they put bandaids on the software and those fail soon after. During hurricane IAN the system worked great for the first few times the power shut off/returned. In the evening when the storm got really bad, the system failed to kick on at all and we were left in the dark in subsequent outages. I got on the phone with Enphase (1 hour and 49 minutes) and they “escalated” our problem because it was hurricane related. Luckily, we did not lose power longterm. We had no idea when the software problem was corrected since Enphase does not communicate with the customer. The following day I contacted SEM and asked for help and was told it was a software problem, not their problem, and to let them know when we got it corrected. They have dropped us like a hot potato and our system is only about seven months old and our backup system has never functioned properly. The only way we know if it works is to go out and shut off the main breaker and see if it works. Both SEM and Enphase need to develop some lines of customer service. We do not feel comfortable at all that we will have our expensive battery backup in an emergency and we certainly don’t feel comfortable we will have any kind of support.” – clcard12 ⭐⭐☆☆☆ October 1, 2022

We met Ben Hedstrom the Company’s Sales Representative on Super Bowl Sunday and after a brief talk we decided to make a appointment for further information. Ben came to our house the following Wednesday with a great Presentation on SEM Power’s Solar Energy System. He showed us the advantages of owning a Solar System including our cost savings. This morning March 4 2020 Tim, T.J and Coby installed our Home Solar Energy System. All three were complete professionals. They arrived at 9AM and finished just before noon. Before installation they reconfirmed where the panels and other equipment were to be installed. This afternoon Ben came to our house to make sure that we were satisfied with the installation and service. He also continued to follow up and make sure every part of the process went smoothly. Just for reference my electric bill was normally 200 a month and all I have had the last 2 months is the $30 admin fee so well worth the money and investment. “I would not recommend this SOLAR company based in Tampa, they are the contractors and install your solar panels. They are UNPROFESSINAL and do not have good customer relationship skills. They do not care about their clients and do not want to help you in case you need technical or customer support. There is no way you can reach them. They were the ones installed our solar panels, and we still pay the solar loan to, I needed a rebate paperwork from them in order to send it to TECO, and tried to reach Sonny he is the service director, took forever to reach him and he did not even want to help us to get our rebate. All I need is an itemized invoice for some items, and he couldn’t provide it. So we’ve been waiting for months to do the rebate. What kind of business person does this, so you don’t need any word of mouth or referrals ??? I do not get this at all! “SEM power is a fraudulent operation. They took our deposit money four months ago and have not even delivered plans for our solar panel installation. After repeated emails and phone calls, they made no progress on our job. We are reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and starting litigation. As far as I’m concerned. they will steal your money. Do not use this company. “I used SEM for seven years but recently had to reroof. When I purchased the project seven years ago, SEM assured me that I would only see about $2500 for them to take the panels down and put them back for a future reroofing. This must have been a sales tactic. Today, I received a quote from SEM for $15,600 to take the panels down and put them back up for my reroofing situation. Before anyone buys from SEM or any other solar company, get some contract guarantee for reroofing or do not do the project. $15,600 is outrageous. They took the time to help me understand the pricing of the solar panels vs the output and how the tax credit actually works. I did my due diligence with other companies before getting a quote from SEM, they beat them all. They even upgraded my panels in order to get my install done faster.
