“This was a complete waste of time. In the end, I had to cancel it and also lost the federal solar tax credit due to repeated delays. Every response I received felt like they were handling a project for the first time–there was no continuity or ownership. They kept coming back with additional costs for PG&E fees, a main panel upgrade, and other unexpected charges, causing constant back-and-forth and frustration. “I had a great experience last year when I installed the panels with them. Very responsive. This year I contacted them to add 4 more panels. Since I am stuck with them they are taking full advantage of it. They quoted me outrageous price in comparison to original installation price. I don’t mind little bit more than last year pice as I do understand cost is high. Eventually I didn’t got panels extended. “A year ago I had a solar system installed at solar Bills in Quartsite Az. The installation included 800 watts of solar on the roof and numerous victron electrical components. At first all was well but while we on our next trip the system began to operate strangely. I communicated with S. B. and after several calls they decided that the Victron charge controller was bad. they replaced it and I installed it. No luck. panels not charging. So, working with John over the phone since I am based in louisiana we proceeded to troubleshoot. Removing the solar panels to check connectors I had one of the panels actually pull out from the roof. Two sheet metal screws on an L bracket per corner is not enough in my opinion. Every thing checked out electrically so John directed me to trace the wire from roof to charge controller. tracing the wire down through camper and underneath camper floor found the problem . Wire was laying on driveshaft. Of couse it had worn through insulation and caused the problems. The company was responsive and helped me find the issue but this is unacceptable. I am not very handy and I wanted this done right. I feel the company came up short. The unit is a 2022 dynamax super C , This unit is expensive and I intend to keep it a long time. “I contacted Solar Bill while evaluating solar options. To their credit, they promptly responded to my call and came to the site to take a look. The 2 stars I am giving are for that part of the experience.Since I did not use them for the actual work, I cannot comment on the quality of their installation. This review is purely based on the pricing and the subsequent communication.After receiving their quote, I found their price to be significantly higher than the quote I received from Tesla(more than 50%) When I mentioned the Tesla quote, I received a long email explaining that Tesla uses cheaper parts and labor. Later, after I responded to a follow-up text saying that I had not finalized my decision and that their price was expensive compared to Tesla, I received what felt like a dismissive response: “Skilled labor isn’t cheap. And cheap labor isn’t skilled. You get what you pay for…”I understand that quality work costs money, and I respect that skilled labor has value. However, I felt the response was defensive and unprofessional.
