“One and a half years after purchasing a solar pool heating system, one panel flew off my roof and damaged two panels. The warranty does not cover wind damage — and wind speeds were only 18 mph when this occurred. I was charged $750 for a new panel and $250 for a service call. Two direct neighbors with the identical system installed by Solar Solutions had no damage. Tim says wind doesn’t affect every installation the same — I agree, it only affects subpar ones. You will also be reminded a dozen times that there is a $250 call-out fee. If something still isn’t working after they come out, you had better report it within 30 days or it won’t be covered. “My system worked great for a year and a half. Then a panel flew off my roof with no storm. When they came to repair it, I was told the warranty I was sold on doesn’t cover this. They also found another damaged panel on the roof — also not covered and not in stock to complete the repair.
