“My initial installation of solar went great. I knew they weren’t the cheapest by far but I went with them by default because I thought I was getting a real professional installation. It was when I used them to add batteries and a few extra panels that things fell apart. The design had to be revised on the fly because the designer paid no attention to the layout of my garage, they had to come back because they didn’t have what they needed to install. The communication was horrible, and they took months to complete the changes, leaving my solar power out the whole time. If I’d known it was going to be such a long process I would have done this in the winter when I wouldn’t be paying hundreds of dollars for my cooling bills. They didn’t tell me what was going on at all without me going through customer service and complaining and when they did the information I got was wrong most of the time. I couldn’t get all my circuits I wanted transferred to the battery backup because they used a different kind of electrical box that was more sensitive than my main box and one of the circuits kept tripping. I would have rated this one star except for the fact that the installers who came onsite where so professional and knowledgeable. “I recently moved into a newly constructed home and had several solar companies trying to get my business. I went with Sunny because they are local. It took longer than I was told to get installed but the crew did a great job. Panels were activated at the end of August. My bills are more than twice what I was told to expect. Maybe that will improve in the summer. I sure hope so. Now I’m trying to do my taxes and it looks like I have to send an application to the state to get the credit that was really hyped by the salesman. It looks like the application deadline is December 31 of the year the equipment is installed so I missed that. Would have been nice to know. One of the owners started a new company called Sunny Energy Rx, where they aim to service all the systems they profited and then walked away from. The below quote is from their new website. “Like most homeowners with solar, you probably spent $30,000 to $50,000 or maybe more on your investment in clean solar energy. Your solar investment deserves our expert care, especially when your original installer is no longer available. Don’t take our word for it. Our work and your results will speak volumes for us.” I agree. Do not take their word for it… It’s sad, yet hilarious to me that they are advertising to the very customers who they screwed over. Some customers may have spent that amount of money yet never received their solar installation. Countless other customers were left with incomplete or non-commissioned systems. From our first meeting, we knew when everything was going to happen. You get text or email, and you can also see how things are going via the Sunny Portal. “Sunny Energy is the real deal! We built a new home in Buckeye and I had three presentations on putting in solar. Mat Thorne was very professional and spent over 2 hours putting together our system that made sense. I love that they are a local company and have their own service and installation team – they do contract any work out. The system is performing above expectation! “Shortly after the company filed for bankruptcy, my inverter became intermittent. Then, after many months of troubleshooting, made the discovery that my 9.49kw system was running through an inverter with a max capacity for 7.5. Meaning the inverter size is wrong and my home wiring cannot support 6 of my 26 panels. I have panels that I am paying for, on a loan, that are useless on my roof, degrading in the AZ sun with no other options. Solar is truly THE largest American scam running. “Thinking SolarSkip Sunny Energy located in ********. I was told after the roof was installed that their technicians would install the panels, battery & in 2-3 days. The roof was finished in mid March. I finally got the **************** installed in May. I hear different things that need to be finished, fire alarm installed, 40 amp breaker, APS has to install the meter. I cant get anybody at Sunny to tell me a timeline for clearing up any installation issues, the meter. Its now the end of June, 107 degree. Sunny is 3 months late, Ive spent thousands with Sunny and have not received a dime in solar savings. “Sunny energy doesn’t stand by its product or its customers. I have had my solar panels for two years now and both years during the summer my invertor has failed. The first year I didn’t ask for any compensation in paying for both my aps bill and my solar panels payment. This year I bring it up as my aps bill is over 400 dollars and the first emails I get is the run around saying my invertor is fine. A week later I get email that says my invertor has failed. Not once but twice since I have had it. Twice in two years. I ask Sunny energy in helping to pay my large aps bill and I get quote unfortunately we don’t do that.
