“Had the system for about a year. Found out that six months into it they didn’t have anyone or anything monitoring it like they said it would. The system stopped reporting and the electricity company said the 25 panels produced 13 KWh during a month with more than 10 hours a day on all panels. Never did get set up like the sales representative told us on the monitoring app…tried multiple time but company is less than helpful. “I contacted them one time to find out a little more about their panels. Now, they won’t stop spam calling me MULTIPLE times a day EVERYDAY. Even after I blocked their number, they still spam me with voice mails. Stop harassing customers who are no longer interested! “I met them at a home show. They wanted my electric bill information to see how many solar panels I needed. They came to the house, looked at my roof and backyard, took pictures of my fuse box and meter, told me how the tax incentives work. We went ahead with it because I know electricity prices go up every year and this is a way to keep my price the same. So solar is an investment but I’m ok with that because it will save me thousands of dollars, and added A LOT of value to my house. It took about 2 months from when I signed the contract for the crew to come put it on, but SunSmart and KCPL both told me that’s because KCPL has an approval process that takes about a month. There’s a 20-page application you have to get to KCPL to have solar approved. SunSmart took care of the whole thing, and the city permit, and the electrical and structural engineer, all I had to do was pay them and wait. So as soon as I was approved the crew came. The SunSmart van came to my house full of SunSmart guys which made me happy they were all employed, not contracted workers that come when you have a home projects like this. We were very happy with the process, everyone who comes over is asking us about the solar panels, we have friends who have gone ahead and called and are doing their own houses, my accountant put it on her building in Kearney, I’m satisfied with the whole experience. It’s a very nice company, they expanded their operation to KC a couple years ago from Arizona I believe. I met several of the staff when I went to see the office and warehouse in Gladstone. It’s a very positive place, the people working there seem happy to be there and congratulated me on going solar. “Won’t answer phone or respond to emails. Matter of fact I think my wife said the email server kicked it back as undeliverable.Purchased 2 systems from them about 9 years ago a 31 panel array and a 16 panel array. Recently had 2 panels fail(arc/shorted out). Called to see about servicing them under warranty(should be atleast 10 years from manufacturer).No response from Sunsmartusa. “I contracted with them to install in 2017. During the install they had several people on the roof of my 100 year old house. I heard a loud noise during install. After one of the people mentioned that they heard a board pop so I might want to check. I noticed a leak a couple of months later. After checking in the dormer attic I discovered the broken truss that caused the roofing to crack and leak. When I called to report the problem they sent out a guy who didn’t even check in my opinion and stated it wasn’t their problem. Of course that is what any corrupt contractor would claim.
