What Do Customers Say About the SunWork?

energysage.com

Positive reviews:

“We have our solar installed through Sunwork. The whole process took something like 4months. Best part is the pricing and transparency. Other providers were quoting a price which is almost 50% higher than what Sunwork was quoting. There is some delay in getting the appointment and the date for installation. The reason is that Sunwork installs only on weekends. So, one has to wait longer. However, the wait is worth. In terms of transparency, the statement gave details of every small detail of work done. The final bill was few hundred dollars lower than previously quoted. Our installer was Bryan Noel. Great guy to work with. Myself and my two kids volunteered to work with him. Learnt a lot about solar power and installation. I would recommend Sunwork to anyone who is interested to get solar installation.” – karpoo ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 10, 2018

“We were very happy with the installation process of our small solar system. Having had solar on a previous residence, I knew basically what to expect in terms of results. But this time, I was thrilled to participate in the actual installation. We attended a pre-installation class so that we knew the vocabulary and the tools we were going to use. Before the installation, we met Matt Thompson of Day One Solar in Santa Cruz who was the lead on our project. He was simply great!. The materials arrived on time and we were able to complete the installation in one day. I can’t say enough good things about Mike Balma, Reuben Veek and Matt Thompson and the volunteer work they do for SunWork. They are dedicated to taking solar to as many rooftops as possible.” – jbfuerst ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 6, 2017

Positive reviews:

“SunWork is a not for profit organization, which has very few employees and rest of the (wo)man power comes as volunteers (like you and me), who get trained both in classroom/zoom and on-the-job. Great guys to work with and very friendly at every step of the process. Everyone I had a chance to work with are highly professional, flexible, spend time to explain all the questions I had. They are not only nice to the owners, they are also very nice to the volunteers. It’s a Win-Win-Win.” – Vijay L ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 3, 2020

“If you qualify, I can’t imagine you can find a better deal than Sunwork. They worked with me to determine what would best fit my current and future needs at the price I could afford. I never felt pressured in any way to get something more or less than what I wanted. They were flexible and handled my specific installation and feature request with no issues. The team lead is a professional contractor and the volunteer installers are trained and supervised well. My installation is exactly what I wanted, the way I wanted, at a significantly better price than the other options I explored. The system has been performing reliably to my expectations for several months and I’m having fun watching the generation increase as the days get longer.” – Mike ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 21, 2020

Positive reviews:

“SunWork did the HPWH for us. The project leader, Reuben, is very knowledgeable and professional. The whole process of converting the gas water heater to HP water heater was very smoothly. With their help of applying rebates the actual cost to us is very attractive. Since we have solar panel already, the HPWH uses less fossil fuel and also saves us a lot of money too. I’ll highly recommend SunWork for your HPWH installation.” – Arthur H. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ June 10, 2025

Negative reviews:

“SunWork installed 4 new panels in 2018 and also replaced 2 microinverters for me. I was very pleased with the work. Then in June, 2023, another microinverter failed and Marc from SunWork told me in August that they could not get to it until September. I subsequently sent them 4 reminders in September and October, but they did not respond to any of them. So I have given up on SunWork and switched to a different installer. I would have accepted a response from them saying that they declined to do the work. But instead, they left me hanging for 2 months, and that is not acceptable.” – Bill K. ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 29, 2023

“I have been exploring the option of going solar for a few years but on each occasion my low electricity consumption made the ROI of such a project unjustifiable given the installation costs. This was until I came across Sunwork and the glowing recommendations of their work on Yelp and Nextdoor. That combined with the expiring solar tax credits led me to get in touch with them in early July. I quickly heard back from Marc who confirmed that I would be eligible for their program and set up an on-site appointment in a couple of weeks for an onsite survey with Al. Everything went very smoothly with the survey and I was excited about finally getting solar panels installed on my home. However from that point on (July 20th), there was no follow through from the Sunwork team. They informed me that during the on-site visit that I would hear back in a couple of weeks with their availability to do the installation but despite several persistent follow up emails that I sent to Al and Mark, it’s been crickets for the past 3 months. I recognize Sunworks is a non-profit and their volunteers might be overwhelmed with too many projects going on but I really feel let down by their lack of communication and proper expectation setting.” – Andy W. ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 22, 2020

Positive reviews:

“Reuben did a very good job on replacing our water heater. He is an attention to detail person. The finished work is beautiful. He’s very patient on explaining everything and adapt to our request. We had one instance that we were trying to figure out why the water heater start giving out cold water after several minutes. We had a long call session with Reuben, and he diagnosed the right cause which none of other contractors did.” – Yen-Feng Cheng (Yen) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025

“Reuben did a very good job in installing our heatpump/electric water heater. After installation, there was a leaking problem. We notified him. He visited couple of times to fix it but finally replaced the water heater. He is committed to doing sincere and honest work. I would highly recommend him.” – John De Britto L ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025
