What Do Customers Say About the Universal Solar Direct of Indiana?
Positive reviews:
“Connor and the Universal Solar Direct crew made going solar so easy and hassle free. I liked the detailed description of the costs, incentives and system design. The installation men were very competent and got the job done ahead of schedule. We have had no problems since going live and our system is working great. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a reputable solar service.” – Linda Hernandez ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 27, 2025
“Universal Solar Direct has been better than we ever expected, in every aspect. “Connor made sure we knew every facet of the project from the finance to how the system will work. We were happy with the speed with which things progressed. All permits, installation and final inspection were done without any delay. The panels are performing fantastic and the system has been really dependable. We’ve already had numerous neighbors inquire about it and we’ve suggested Universal without hesitation.” – Jennifer Brown ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 27, 2025
Negative reviews:
“I had this crew install on my roof over two months ago. Not seen or herd from them till today with a text because I have been unhappy. They are even stalking me on Facebook. The reginal Manager sent me a text telling me its my job to work with the Energy Company to finalize. Little do they know I have done all that and they don’t even know. I have all the releases from Duke and final paperwork. Duke Energy blames Universal Solar Direct, and I have all the documents. So, I am sitting here paying the bank and my utilities and all I get is a text. I’ve written Las Veas their headquarters and they said they would help not once but twice and still no resolve. I am having to seek a Lawyer to get this settled and my resolve is to remove the garbage from my roof and restore my home. I would recommend looking at other companies before hiring these people. Be real hard here giving them a one star. There is just to much to say and I will do it in Court. BEWARE , No response or follow-up. Do not pay them if you hire them till your system is up and running because when they get paid they are done just like buying a car.” – Mikelm31 ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 12, 2024
“Universal Solar told me I needed 30 panels, but my utility said that was too many for the amount of energy I was consuming so they denied the installation and approved 27 panels, so I was oversold on the system. Universal still installed the 30 panels and told me they would put a lien on my house if I didn’t pay for it. My utility said they would lock me out of the system if I tried to use it. I paid $40,000 for a system that included an EV charger and a backup battery. EV charger has never worked. Now I find out the backup battery doesn’t work. I was told the EV charger would charge my car in two hours, but when they got it working momentary, it said it would take as long to charge my car as the standard dryer outlet I already was using and they it gave my car an error message. They won’t return calls, don’t show up when promised, did sloppy work. I was told the entire installation would take one and a half days. It took them approximately 10.” – Debbiehines1 ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 7, 2021
Positive reviews:
“From their customer service to their professional installers everything was top notch. Are install went smooth without a hitch. Not only that they have been backed twice once to replace the monitoring and once to repair a nail I found that went through the side of the eaves. Both at no cost to us. Edgar helped us out and is their operations manager. Thanks guys. Definitely a 5 star company.” – Prince Daniel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 28, 2024
“Universal Solar Direct is the best choice for Solar! They are very informative and will set you up to maximize your solar intake to save on your NV Energy bill. The battery will store any excess energy that you didn’t use each month so that you can use it in the HOT months and really save a lot of money. The installers and office are really friendly and professional. I’m happy I made the choice to go with Universal Solar Direct!” – M. Miles ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 2, 2021
Negative reviews:
“This company is a complete scam. If I could rate them a zero I would!!!!! They charged us over 47k for solar panels which is about 17k over the market rate for panels that were supposed to completely covered parts, labor and maintenance for 25 years and shuttered without transferring the warranty. If you are able to get someone from their AZ office to answer the phone they refer you to Battle Born Solar ( who has suspended contractors license in NV) who wants to charge you a $385 truck roll out fee. Other local agencies charge 150-185 for dx of your unit. Turns out our investor was mis-wired which caused it to burn out and although the investor is covered under the manufactures warranty we are now on the hook for over $1000 in repairs. Furthermore the installers at Universal Solar broke several roof tiles that we now have to get repaired as well. Please for the sake of your sanity do not enter a business relationship with Universal Solar Direct in NV/AZ” – Mel ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 17, 2026
“Had solar installed in Feb 2023. System began malfunctioning in May 2024. At that time the company had went out of business. We experienced a complete system failure in Oct 2025. The parent company has filed bankruptcy and there is no trace of them locally. We are faced with paying for repairs out of pocket while we are still responsible for paying NV Energy and DIVIDEND. When I finally got a company to get on the roof and check the system out they found 10 broken tiles and quoted me over $1000 for repair as they have to rewire the system! Every license associated with this company in NV has been suspended or revoked. I however have noticed that the operating officer on the SUSPENDED license in NV is also listed on the active License in AZ…further proof that Universal Solar Direct is engaging in poor business practice and running away from their commitments.” – Unhappy ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 4, 2026
Positive reviews:
“Many Solar Salespeople have approached me in the past, but I have always declined their business because their explanations of the whole system did not convince me to sign up. Chelsea Petty took her time to explain to me how Net Metering works and how the Grid Connected Solar System works, and I was convinced that, over time, it would save me a lot of money. I signed up for the installation last month, and Chelsea oversaw the installation process. Thank you, Chelsea, for being thorough with explaining the system. Trust was gained and business was earned.” – Roger Cariaga ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 25, 2024
“Everyone has been great to work with.” – Kieth & Linda Noble ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 25, 2024
Negative reviews:
“Nothing I was told was true. I still pay a high power bill. They did not even complete their own install agreement. I have called them several times and they won’t return my calls. Horrible people, nasty company!” – Shark Aumakua ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 6, 2025
“Universal Solar Direct has screwed two senior widows (two homes next door to each other which I now own, since my mother passed) over an 8-year period. They sold us 4 Tesla batteries then convinced us to switch them to 4 LG’s without disclosing the price difference per battery (estimate approx $2500-5000 less per battery) or the kwh of storage difference of 8.9 kwh vs 13.5 kwh per battery. (Bait and Switch?) Plus, they installed the batteries and then left us in limbo for 2 years without City Inspection and NVEnergy approval. We lost more than two years of monthly credits and paid high power bills. After refunding power bill overages once, now they refuse to reimburse the remainder (approx $5000 per house). I paid $75,000 for panels and batteries for one house and my mother paid $63,000 for the other house. They got their money up front. I filed one contractors board complaint and they were fined and disciplined but still owe me money for that house. They are too busy expanding to other states to fulfill their commitments to customers in Nevada. I’m filing a 2nd complaint on this house. Use Sol-Up, I have friends who rave about their SolUp installations. Sol-Up treats their customers and employees right (several Universal Solar employees also went to Sol-Up because of Universal’s terrible management and awful customer service). Sol-Up does great work, cares about their customers, their workmanship and reputation! I want Universal Solar to remove their junk so I can go to Sol -Up and I regret the time and money I wasted…..BUYER BEWARE!!” – Kat ⭐☆☆☆☆ March 25, 2025
Positive reviews:
“Easy-to-work-with company. The system is performing well. It will also allow us to store excess solar electricity in the battery for future use. It is a joy and a service to be able to see the output via the app.The installation crew handled our solar pathway lights with extreme care, stayed on schedule and cleaned up immaculately. I would recommend them.” – Billy Tucker ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 2026
“The rooftop installation of solar by this group was flawless. The panels maintain steady energy and are quite aesthetically pleasing on the roof. Energy storage provides peace of mind through severe weather or time of use changes. They handled the entire project in an organized fashion with polite crew members and a pristine job site. The savings are real and the benefits are too!” – Lisa Bakker ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 2026
Negative reviews:
“I wouldn’t recommend this company to ANYONE! After working with the project manager Rosemary, she run into some issues with the town and I found out that the town had and issue with the electrician experience with installing solar panels so I was told there getting another electrician, that was 3 weeks ago. Fast forward and I’m calling and she’s not answering my calls or texts. I’ve been ghosted with no explanation or nothing! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!” – Terrence Mcelroy ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 2025
“Beware here , installed 12 panels on roof haven’t seen them since check was cut . Duke Energy and this Company blame each other for my system still drawing fro the grid . Solar company says it’s working but my emphase meter says no . My Duke Energy app says I’m drawing from the Grid . Meanwhile I get to pay the bank and my electric bill. I don’t think this Company is sitting on five stars, they are new . Shop around before you look at this Company. This is the biggest mistake I ever made . If you do fall over and hire them make sure you are up and running before you pay , you won’t see them again . So Sad” – Michael Manlove ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2024
