What do Customers Say about the West Coast Solar?

solarreviews.com

Positive reviews:

“My experience with West Coast Solar couldn’t have been better! Everyone I talked with was polite, courteous and helpful and the technicians who installed the system worked diligently, quietly and efficiently. I am thrilled to be able to use solar power for all of my energy needs now. I would most certainly recommend West Coast Solar to anyone in search of a solar company.” – Mrs. B ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 2, 2021

“From the moment we got the quote from Ryan, until the system was installed, West Coast Solar was wonderful. We could not be happier with their service, the quality of our system, and the on-going follow-up and check-ins. Highly recommend this solar company!” – Cindy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 31, 2020

Negative reviews:

“DO NOT DUE BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!They started an Installation for me on September 3 2024. The salesman Darrin Chamberlin said it should start in July. The work that you can see is top notch. The issue is they apparently did not install it to code. The city inspector came out and stated that the batteries need to be spaced 3 feet apart. At that point it seems that West Coast Solar has walked away from the job. Everything installed just incorrectly. I have contacted Bobby who told be he needed to look into this further since UL says these can be install closer together than 3 feet. I did my own research and found that NFPA 855 states they have to be at least 3 feet apart. I did talk with Melissa Mena who has been basically worthless. She gave me a number to call that seems to never be answered. So now I have to look into legal remedies. I am looking to see if I can find any criminal intent so I can bypass mediation. Otherwise it looks like I am going to have to file a claim with the CA Contractors State Licensing Board. I probably have to find someone else to come in and bring the installation up to code. All of this because I wanted to stay with a local company.” – Scott ⭐☆☆☆☆ December 6, 2024

“If I could give West Coast Solar zero stars I would. We purchased solar in 2018. The salesman was RYAN O***, and he screwed us out of $27,000. He sat on our couch and 100% assured us that our solar loan was transferrable with the sale of our house, or that we could have our solar moved to our new house. Well that was a lie. We are NOT able to transfer the solar loan with the sale of our house. We have to outright buy the system in order to sell our house. Not only did he entrap us, but my brother as well. RYAN O*** sold my brother the same lies. Never trust a company that will employ someone, who after being invited into your home, sit on your couch, and sell you lies. I’m disgusted by this company.” – Erik Overmyer ⭐☆☆☆☆ August 16, 2021

Positive reviews:

“We hired West Coast Solar to install rooftop solar and a powerwall. We did a lot of research over the course of months and obtained multiple quotes from other vendors (including Tesla). WCS offered by far the best intersection of price, customer service, and system design (including the most optimal placement of our powerwall, inside the garage). From start to finish, WCS made it a seamless and easy process; they were professional, communicative, and delivered everything they said they would on the timeline they promised. They even painted the electrical conduits to match the house! Overall, we could not be more pleased. Highly recommend working with them if you are looking for a great value and easy experience.” – Rachael D. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ June 1, 2025

“I was in a panic when I found out our solar installer had gone out of business and our inverter died – West Coast Solar to the rescue! Christina sent out a technician and worked with SolarEdge to replace my inverter under warranty. The labor costs were extremely reasonable compared to having to do it all myself. They followed up when the inverter was sent to them and just finished replacing it. I’ve asked them to transfer my account over to them, even without my “warranty” from my defunct installer I know I’m in good hands. Thank you so much!!! Christina and Craig (the technician) were both top notch, professional and efficient.” – Jacob G. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 12, 2024

Negative reviews:

“This is my roof one year after installation. I had to hire a licensed roofing contractor to remove my roof tiles in order to clean all of the pigeon poop that had accumulated on my roof due to the lack of proper installation of bird guards on their solar panels. Their general manager, Tommy Hernandez basically told me to take a hike !! To say the least, I’m currently in litigation !” – Alan H. ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 8, 2025

“We had solar installed in 2020. The installation process went well. Over the past year we’ve had issues with some of the hardware (which happens), but there was a lack of communication within the company about the issue, repairmen showed up without any idea what the previous person did, the office wouldn’t return calls in a reasonable time frame (if at all). Things took longer than they should have, and we had to be the ones pushing for things to get done. Now we need a new roof, and are being quoted 4 times the price for removal and re-installation of the panels from WCS. WCS has repeatedly over promised and under delivered. Established customers seem like a nuisance to them. I would say stay away from this company.” – Dan B. ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 4, 2025

Positive reviews:

“From start to finish, West Coast has been a pleasure to deal with. From their informative, no pressure sales presentation to their friendly install crew, they have made going solar a no stress proposition. I highly recommend this company.” – Dan A. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 2017

“Overal I could not have even imagined a smoother opperation. P.G. and E. intergrated the system on 2/7/2013 and the system is as or better than expected. Even on marginal sun days the production is reasonably good. On sunny days it is great. I think my electric cost will be about 10 – 15% of my old cost and will pencil out to break even about 2019/2020.” – Al P. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 2013

Positive reviews:

“It has taken over four months from deposit to passing city inspection. Most of the installation was initially unsatisfactory and had to be redone resulting in probably three weeks delay overall. However, the end result is super nice. The office staff and the field workers were always polite and cooperative. I suspect that things would likely have gone smoother if the work flow was more normal, however, with incentives about to expire everyone was under pressure to complete a heavy workload.” – Jack T ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 28, 2025

“Entire process starting from bidding, inspection, layout, installation and post installation inspection went on very smoothly and on the dates as promised. Doug was very prompt and so is the entire team. I had some doubts on the roof tiles and Doug and his team immediately responded and scheduled to have engineers inspect our roof. I never had to follow up with the team for the updates and installation details. It was great working with the West Coast team.” – Al P. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ March 2013

Negative reviews:

“Horrible communication while trying to get warranty repair scheduled, 2 times of last minut cancelations, no notice that problem was fixed when I was trying to reshedule the appt. Not all the work discussed was completed in one trip.” – Kevin Hann ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 28, 2025

“Purchased and had my system installed in 2020 and had a great experience. Referred them to 4 neighbors who also purchased systems. Over the past few years this company has gone way down hill. They will never return your call or email. I would highly recommend using a different company. I will never refer this company again.” – Ryan Johnson ⭐☆☆☆☆ November 2024
