Terra-Gen Brings 125 MW Lockhart III Solar Project Online in California
Renewable energy company Terra-Gen has celebrated the commercial operations of its 125-MW Lockhart III solar project in San Bernardino County, California.
“The expansion of the Lockhart project highlights Terra-Gen’s commitment to continue to develop clean, reliable energy resources that are critical to meeting growing demand in California and nationwide,”
said Terra-Gen CEO John O’Connor.
“We are proud to bring more resources online that can help relieve strain and improve reliability across the electric grid to keep lights on at homes, and businesses and manufacturing running.”
Lockhart will utilize the existing interconnection line to Southern California Edison’s Kramer Junction Substation and produce enough energy to supply about 62,500 homes and businesses per year.
Construction Achievement and Future Expansion
Lockhart III produced around 370 jobs during peak construction and jointly completed about 260,000 hours worked with no lost-time occurrences. Terra-Gen is also constructing a fourth phase of the Lockhart solar project on the site. It is planned to go into commercial operation in the third quarter of 2026 and contribute another 80 MW of capacity to the energy complex.
January saw Terra-Gen complete Lockhart CL I and II energy storage installations, co-located with their solar equivalents.
