Two Savion Solar Installations Are Now Finished in the Midwest

Tango Holdings Launches 200 MW of Solar Capacity in Indiana and Ohio

Tango Holdings, a joint venture between Savion Equity (a Shell plc company) and a fund run by the Ares Infrastructure Opportunities strategy, has started commercial operations at two new solar projects in Indiana and Ohio. Together, these projects will add 200 MW of capacity to the U.S. grid.

Elkhart County Solar Project, Indiana

The Elkhart County Solar Project in Indiana is being built on 850 acres and will have 245,000 modules on single-axis trackers. Construction started in August 2024. Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has signed a PPA for all of the facility’s production.

Marion County Solar Project, Ohio

The Marion County Solar Project in Ohio started building in November 2024. It will have 245,000 modules on single-axis trackers spread out across 750 acres. A Fortune 100 technology business has signed a long-term virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) to buy all of the facility’s 100 MW of solar energy.

Nick Lincon, president and CEO of Savion, stated,

“Bringing these two solar projects into commercial operation shows that Savion’s top priority is to provide cost-competitive power to the areas of the U.S. grid with the highest energy demand.”

“Utility-scale solar is a solution that is available and can be used to make the U.S. energy system stronger right now. We thank our partner Ares and the local governments and communities who worked together to make these initiatives happen.”

Steve Porto, a partner at Ares Infrastructure Opportunities, stated,

“The successful energization of these projects shows that Tango’s strategy is based on disciplined execution and the goal of creating long-term value.”

“We think that by working with Savion, we are supporting high-quality solar assets that can grow quickly and help meet the growing need for reliable, cheap electricity in the U.S.”

Joint Venture Portfolio Progress

These sites are two of the five solar assets that were disclosed as part of the July 2025 joint venture. They have a combined capacity of 496 MW. Four projects are presently up and running, while the fifth is still being built. Savion came up with the idea and will be the project manager of the joint venture. Shell Renewable Asset Management International will take care of the continuing asset management.
