What Do Customers Say About the Sunwave Energy?
Positive reviews:
“They were so nice to respond to our issues and questions with as much respect and care for our system as we would have with our children.” – James Cassidy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ February 6, 2025
“Finally, a company that services its customers like its future depends on it. My interactions with everyone at the company went very well. I felt like my questions were answered with REAL answers, these guys pull the curtain back on the solar industry and really show you the real deal. Great company, great team. I will continue to recommend these guys to my friends and family.” – Happy Solar Customer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ December 13, 2021
Negative reviews:
“no one will answer the phones nor call back We have solar with battery backup because my wife is dependent on medical equipment. When our original installation failed and the manufacturer and installer were both out of business I contacted Sunwave Energy, Inc. They installed a new system. When we had our first power failure (fortunately that is infrequent here) the battery backup failed. Sunwave returned and determined that at least one of the components that had been used in the system controls was inappropriate. Their technician also determined that the system had been installed incorrectly. They changed out the incorrect component and reinstalled the system. While they were here I had them install an additional battery unit (Jose quoted me $1,000 and charged $7,000). The last I saw of Sunwave was in March of this year (2025) when their technician determined that both battery backup units were faulty. A couple of weeks later, Enphase sent a technician who verified that conclusion. To date (18 July), there has been no resolution or estimated date provided for completion of a functioning installation. In the past week I have sent several messages to Jose Alvarez asking when the system will be functional and he has not responded in any way. So far we have roughly a documented $32,000 invested in this system. I could have bought a pretty nice generator for that amount. When the problems arose Jose tried to get me to assume responsibility for getting Enphase to correct the problems.” – Bart Hendrix ⭐☆☆☆☆ July 18, 2025
Positive reviews:
“We have had this system for close to two years now, and have been very happy with our solar panels. During the installment process, Jose was extremely helpful in explaining how the project would go. Thankfully the entire job went mostly according to schedule. We had a minor hiccup with SMUD, but was quickly resolved. If you are in the market for solar panels, I would definitely suggest Sunwave.” – Yvette G. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 1, 2025
“If it was possible to give 10 stars I would give Sunwave Energy and their CEO Jose Alvarez those and more. It’s refreshing to find quality customer service, excellent technical skill and honest and trustworthy people all in one company. Sunwave Energy is that and more. Thank you, Jose, you just made a customer for life!” – Teena C. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 11, 2025
Negative reviews:
“Bart H. Power failures here are infrequent but we had a solar installation with battery backup because my wife is dependent on medical equipment. When our installation failed and both the manufacturer and the installer were out of business I contacted José to install a replacement. He sent his crew who installed an Enphase system. When we had our first power failure the battery backup failed. José then sent Robert to try to determine what was going on. He determined that the system had been installed incorrectly and that one control component they had installed was inappropriate for the system that was installed. Robert replaced the incorrect component and reinstalled the system. There was a several week delay before Robert was able to fully activate the system while José acquired certification with Enphase to work on that system. During that time I decided to add a second battery bank. José quoted me $1,000 for a second bank but charged me $7,000. When Robert was finally able to try activating the system (March of this year — 2025) he could not get either of the battery banks to function. A couple of weeks later, Enphase sent a technician who was able to verify that both battery banks were bad. I have seen nobody from Sunwave Energy since March and, as of this date (19 July) we still have a non-functioning battery backup. José has been paid in full for the system and attempted to push it onto me to deal with Enphase to get the issue sorted out. I advised him that, before I deal directly with Enphase, he needs to deliver an operative system. At this point, I have documentable payments to José for about $32,000. José has stopped returning my calls and I will be meeting with an attorney next week to review my options.” – Barton H. ⭐☆☆☆☆ July 19, 2025
Positive reviews:
“I recently had the pleasure of working with Sunwave Energy for my solar installation, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From start to finish, the team demonstrated professionalism and expertise. They took the time to explain the entire process, ensuring I understood all my options and the benefits of going solar” – mary cotton ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2024
“Jose was extremely helpful. And one thing I’m always afraid of Is people trying up selling ,which he did not. I had called couple other places before him and i am glad I decided to have him come over to check my solar unit . Definitely recommend their services.” – Baban Kaur ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025
Negative reviews:
“Sunwave is not a solar company. Jose is a salesman who contracted out our business to Penguin Solar who had no idea how to install solar panels. Penguin went out of business and now we do not have a warranty on our roof. We have been left with broken tiles on our roof and dented gutters. Our panels also never worked liked promise after 8 months of installation and we have had to pay PG&E over $700 even though we have solar. We also have a tru-up of $500. Jose will not take responsibility for any of this and he stated himself that he is not liable. He did us “a favor” and called out his workers to patch some of tiles and get our panels actually working. We are still left with a possible roof leak, panels with hanging electrical, dented gutters, and no warranty. We will be taking legal action. Run far away from away from this salesman.” – Cara Lake ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2023
