What Do Customers Say About the Phelps Solar Specialists?
Positive reviews:
“Our pool heater collector needed leak patching and maintenance. So many contractors ignored emails and voicemails or said they don’t do that anymore. Called Phelps, got a human on the first call. The repairman arrived right on time, determined patching would be sufficient rather than replacing (saving me $750), and also found and replaced a stuck valve I wasn’t aware of. Done efficiently and politely. Very pleased!” – Macs R W. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 16, 2025
“Just had my pool solar panels installed. So far they are working great and already increased the pool temperature from 64 to 82 degrees in just 3 days. Excited to be able to swim in a warm pool at the beginning of April.” – Justin G. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ April 1, 2022
Negative reviews:
“The entire system leaks and has to be removed — and it’s only a couple of years old. Poor quality products. Total waste of time and money.” – Vicki B. ⭐☆☆☆☆ February 26, 2025
“I was promised a refund of $190 for repeated service calls to fix the same problem — bubbles in the line and filter changes. After I updated my review accordingly, the owner revoked the credit and reinstated the charge. To me, reneging on a promise says more about a company than poor customer service alone. We paid $8,000 for this equipment and it is not being stood behind. Customer service always trumps price — I would rather pay more to a company that treats its customers well.” – Melanie B. ⭐☆☆☆☆ June 19, 2022
Positive reviews:
“Called Phelps this morning to fix a solar leak on my roof. The owner, David, came out that same afternoon to repair the problem and proactively inspect and repair some other spots. I had a great experience end to end and David is very knowledgeable. I’ll definitely be going back to Phelps for future solar pool heat needs.” – Jason McCartney ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025
“David and Tucker did an excellent job installing our new solar water heating system for our pool. David is a wealth of knowledge for all things pool — he fine tuned the system to run perfectly and on the first full day our pool gained 7 degrees. We highly recommend David and Phelps Solar for your pool heating needs.” – Brandon Arneson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025
Negative reviews:
“We’ve had 4 service calls in less than a year and have spent over $1,100 on repairs. The system was replaced in 2019. We’ve had about 3 weeks of actual use during that time. The next call will be to remove the system.” – Michael ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2025
“I hired this company to fix a leak in my solar panel. The tech told me there were too many leaks to fix and that I would need a new system, recommending I shut the system down in the meantime. I was charged $150 for about 15 minutes of work. The system is still leaking in the same place as before, so I essentially paid for nothing — and now in addition to the continued leak, I can no longer heat my pool.” – Jill Devine ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2021
