“I could not be more disappointed with Big Dog Solar and Smart Energy Today, the sales agent. If you are a customer of Big Dog Solar, I would bet that you are unable to tell which panel needs replacing when one of them or the link connectors goes bad. Most of those in my neighborhood did not receive that map. I contracted for a $30,000 system and it is still incomplete. Promises made are simply promises not kept. They sent me a final bill, I called and asked so many times when they would finish. Polite people just kept saying I will tell some one. There are many unresolved issues even after I sent both companies a registered US mail letter. I paid for the system in full to avoid their accounting legal department messing up my life. My letters have been ignored. Finally after so many calls I did get one of many unresolved issues resolved, someone came out de-attached and re-attached each panel for a map I can only access via a SolarEdge server on the net somewhere. I still do not know if both my solar edge inverters are reporting to the Idaho Power company. From my experience I highly doubt the warranty from Big Dog Solar will be any good when something fails. I should have gone with the other companies that quoted me. Big Dog Solar was not the cheapest and I did not expect to have such a poor quality control incomplete promised install. “I originally purchased a system in 2017 and was super pleased with the production. At the time the power company had so many stipulations and I wasnt allowed to have a system large enough to cover ALL the usage of my home but I decided it was worth the investment then. Ran into Neil early last fall and he inquired how well we thought our system was doing and I said great but expressed my disapointment over not having full coverage for my usage. He had me send over my past years numbers from San Isabel and then he let me know I could absolutely maxamize my system now due to some changes with the power company. So I had them add to my setup and I am thrilled! Yes is cost a bit more up front, but after seeing my savings for the past two years, I am sure this investment will pay off for me in the next couple of years. “I was not involved in decision-making when we went with Big Dog Solar. But I watched the sales pitch and heard the promises and deals offered. The selling point was going to be – the solar energy could and would be stored if not used, and could be used later or sold to the power company. THAT HAS NOT AND DOESN’T LOOK LIKE IT’S GONNA HAPPEN LIKE THEY SAID. Having Solar hasn’t changed the power bill. They were told the tax credit would not help pay the installment bill. The cost of solar energy does not outweigh the benefits (there haven’t been any yet) that they were told would happen. Also, they ripped up our yard because the panels had to go on the shop, not the house (their recommendation), and they didn’t fix the yard.We will be paying on this forever!What a total rip-off!” – K. “These people are as corrupt as you’ll see- they lie about the costs, the so- called tax credit and just about everything else. The installation looks horrible- they were supposed to paint the piping, lied about that, they have no intentions of doing that, have been contacted several times about many issues and don’t call back. It took Xcel energy one month to change the meter so that we could get credit for generating energy- they said it would take a few days. “Every time I call them they are very nice and very helpful. They try and save you money by trying to troubleshoot any problems over the phone, or on the computer. If that dosent work, they send out a tech in a timely manner . They had to send a tech out once to change a part that wore out. The part was under warranty, and they honored it. I was told it would supply all of the energy for the year with the surplus energy I made in the summer. Unfortunately, I’m already not producing enough And having to pay a monthly electric bill in addition to the bill for the solar system. I still have all of the winter to go through paying electric bills before the solar system begins to cover my costs again. It is a decent install but they certainly way over promised the output.
