What do Customers Say about the Common Energy?
Positive reviews:
“I became a CE customer about 2yrs ago because my house wasnt in a good location to put solar on it. They said I would save and my experience has been much bigger savings than quoted! I save about $50 a month at least. Customer service is exceptional but to be honest I only ever needed it at sign up. I recommend them to everyone I know.” – Cheryl P ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 17, 2025
“Company representatives always communicated politely with me and answered my questions. Support was very helpful.I was very happy with the relationship with Common Energy. Plus I saved money. I have now converted to solar.” – Kathleen G ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 4, 2024
Negative reviews:
“I’ve been trying to cancel my account since August 2024 because after several months, I was not seeing a saving on my energy bill. In fact I was paying more. I was told that it would take 90 days to take effect. I’ve called numerous times and am continually given the run around. They charged my account on February 8. I switched electric providers and am being charged by them as well. I feel that I have been more than patient. I’m waiting to see another charge from Common Energy appear on credit card bill around March 8. My best advice is to never give your credit card number to these people. It gives them a license to just bill, bill, bill. I’ve got enough going on during the day in running my business. I don’t have the time to be chasing after these people to stop billing me. Be wary of anyone who walks into your business, gives you the hard sell and leaves with your credit card information. Nothing is as good as it sounds. Apparently these sales people must be paid on commission and just work going door to door. I would give them no star if that were an option. Anyone else have this experience?” – Jacqueline D ⭐☆☆☆☆ March 4, 2025
“The company is a scam, going door to door and getting personal information. they should not be allowed to do this; how can we know they are legit with so many scams out. this practice needs to stop. If we want it, we will ask. you prey upon people. I don’t even want to give you one star.” – Robert K ⭐☆☆☆☆ November 12, 2024
Positive reviews:
“While it does take a while to get off the ground, I am now very happy and grateful that I was patient and have a contract in place with Common Energy. Not only am I doing better for the environment, but I am saving money each month. While it takes a little while to understand it i worth it!” – Chris Robinson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ a month ago
“I am so glad I found Common Energy and can be part of the solar farm family without the inconvenience and hassle of having panels on my roof. This program is simple and easy. I love the reduced costs on my energy bills while helping keep the planet green using solder. Thank you !!” – Gail Berch ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ a month ago
Negative reviews:
“really terrible experience. signed up. never heard back. takes 3 months to actually sign up. loads of confusion between pseg and them. money deducted randomly 7 months after signup. when inquired they stated delays from pseg. online account is horrible. there is no actual information. same as the invoice. just says pay this amount. their payment method is deduct from bank account. with no way to verify anything, this is a massive scam. i have cancelled. glad i did. same type of business model with property tax reduction scams except this is worse. my mistake was giving my bank account info and not knowing that payments will be auto deducted with no explanation. i shall close my bank. lesson learned. energy is such a black hole and they are exploiting the hole for their benefit” – Clarice Chigbo ⭐☆☆☆☆ 6 months ago
“Shame on me.. I’ve been getting scammed by this company and not realizing it. In January alone Common Energy deducted over $450 from my debit account and they’ve been crediting me $135 average on my energy bill. I called in to find out how this makes sense and they said they needed to increase my allocation. It what world is this not a scam. Common Energy withdraws my money and give me back a small percentage of it and blame me for not calling sooner to adjust my allocation. Beware. Not recommended. They are doing an audit on my account so I hope I am wrong and I will remove this review if I am.” – Anthony Colletti ⭐☆☆☆☆ 8 months ago
Summarizing:
Do we recommend Common Energy services?
Average Performer
Common Energy gets the Average Performer badge and works in 8 states, but their third-party ratings don’t go above 4. Local community trust isn’t their strong suit either – their score is 3.9 in our evaluation. This badge means they are somehow reliable, but you need to pay more attention to what they have to offer. While Common Energy may not lead the pack, they are certainly recognized for their capacity to meet a broad range of solar installation needs with commendable customer satisfaction. When considering this solar installer, you can add Common Energy to your list as a lower priority and one that requires additional research before you decide to work with them.
