SolarWorks review

SolarWorks gets the Average Performer badge and works in 1 state, but their third-party ratings don't go above 4. Local community trust isn't their strong suit either - their score is 3.9 in our evaluation. This badge means they are somehow reliable, but you need to pay more attention to what they have to offer. While SolarWorks may not lead the pack, they are certainly recognized for their capacity to meet a broad range of solar installation needs with commendable customer satisfaction. When considering this solar installer, you can add SolarWorks to your list as a lower priority and one that requires additional research before you decide to work with them.

What Do Customers Say About the SolarWorks?

Positive reviews:

“We purchased LG solar panels from Chico solar works and had a great experience! Not only were they the best price by far, they were also very easy to work with. We went from contract to operating panels within 3 weeks.” – Shanta2801 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ October 27, 2017

“Solar Works did a great job for us start to finish. We invited Solar Works out because they are also Chico Roofing & we needed a roof inspection before getting solar. We had Rick out to talk about both & for financing. He explained all to us, we ended up with a new roof and solar. We couldn’t be happier with both and financed. Highly recommend Rick, Solar Works and their couteous instal crew!” – Happy & Sunny ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ September 26, 2017

Negative reviews:

“10/22/18 update: found out my generator was installed with NO permits and by unlicensed electricians. Left 3 messages for Bill, the owner and he has NOT called me back. 10/17/18 Had my solar installed almost a year ago and no problems. My generator was installed in December 2018, however, has NEVER worked properly. Jody was always nice and kind on the phone and always sent someone to fix it and even asked me very nicely to please give them another chance before I try to return the unit. Since the generator has never turned on or off on it’s own and the battery always had to be jumped I’ve been asking since June to have it returned and issued a full refund. I was out of power for 3 days and no generator This is very upsetting. Now they have a smart a** working in the company as a manager. Her name is ‘L’ like in stranger things I guess. She is very rude and has a very bad smart attitude and changes her voice to very kind after I told her she was being recorded. She also told me that I don’t know how to work the unit. If it’s supposed to turn on by itself when the power goes out and off when it comes back on then what am I doing wrong?? I dont understand why they have people like her working there. They HAVE a good rep and people like L are going to ruin it. She also told me they dont do returns because they are not Walmart or Costco. Why would I think they are Walmart or Costco??? After she said this is not Costco or Walmart I got upset and raised my voice ‘i never said this was Costco or walmart’ she said it was too early in the morning to listen to me yell at her and just hung up on me, just like that, no respect. I hope this gets resolved and Bill sees this message and helps me resolve this. I paid them over 30k for solar and generator. All I am asking is for a refund on my generator so I can get a reputable generator company out.” – Opj ⭐☆☆☆☆ October 22, 2019

Positive reviews:

“Its been about three years since my system was installed and it is humming right along. My PG&E True Up bills have been quite low because the system was sized correctly.” – Bob E. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ June 9, 2022

“My experience with Chico Solar Works was excellent. They were always on time, explained everything thoroughly, answered all my questions and contacted me the day before they were going to work on my house so I knew what was going on. Everyone we respectful and courteous. Also, I work from home and the noise was at a minimal when I had conference calls. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about putting in solar.” – Janet J. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ December 10, 2019

Negative reviews:

“We had our solar system installed in 2017 and had a great experience with the installation and start up. Fast forward to now, our inverter is having communication issues and we are getting the run around from the installer and solar edge. The person that works in the office by the name of Rhi is unprofessional, not helpful and flat out rude. Today she snickered, raised her voice and hung up on me due to my frustration about the system having issues.I would highly recommend you take your thousand of dollars where the customer service is better!” – Shanta L. ⭐☆☆☆☆ April 16, 2019

“Take your money elsewhere they will screw you over! Paid 10k for a generator that has never turned on on its own and they have always come out to fix it. Now they basically said I’m screwed because they no longer service my generator. They are even assuming that I don’t service my generator. The lady that answers their phone just rambles on on how we don’t service it and its are fault it doesn’t turn on and talks over you. Her name is El and is very rude and un professional, instead of being understanding and trying to help customers they basically just say sorry can’t help. Chico Solar Works is a rip off and they customer service sucks!” – Olivia P. ⭐☆☆☆☆ August 10, 2020

Positive reviews:

“Chico Solar Works was a great choice for us! We got three bids from local companies and they were the winner due to their price and sister roofing company. From Bill to Cal to Teddy to Michele, all the folks we interacted with were responsive and friendly. The install team was quick, professional, and seemed to have a good time together. We’re really happy with our system so far and would recommend Chico Solar Works to others! They are less sales focused than other companies out there and more focused on the people and the work. Thank you!” – Jess Hinchcliff ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ January 2026

“I got Solar up and running. When they came out to survey the found my roof was missing some shingles and they fixed it. it looks professional and is already saving money. I recommend Chico Solar Works.” – Steven Cushing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ November 2025

Negative reviews:

“4 times for inspection and they failed. Bill told me its not their fault ‘mistakes happen’. 1 time is a mistake. 4 times is a problem and they will not admit they have a problem. Do not use them” – Erik S ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2023

“Poor customer service. I cannot get a call back from Solar Works. We have a large solar install with them and they are not servicing our account. Poor customer service is an understatement.” – Michael Barney ⭐☆☆☆☆ 2024
