“Warning: Do not use this company to go solar! I’m 64-years-old and have hired many companies for projects at the homes and rental properties I have owned over the past 30 years. Tephra Solar is the worst company I have dealt with. From the beginning and all through my dealings with them, their incompetence created delays, mix-ups, and heated conversations. It took them five months to actually install my panels after my initial purchase. Five months! Then it took them three weeks to reinstall my panels after I replaced my roof from hail damage. “Is there a negative 10 star option? This is the worst company I have ever done business with. They are blatantly inept.I experienced everything Rod mentioned in his review. My system took nearly 10 months to install and is STILL not working. I was lied to about the cost, the production (only about 20% of the power used comes from the panels, despite my due diligence of estimating use prior to purchasing) and everything else for that matter. They lied about how many panels were installed. They swear up and down that my system is working, only to find out they did not connect them to each other. They also installed used, broken panels. They damaged my home and refused to repair it until an attorney was involved. It was then rigged together with plastic bags in my stucco. The technicians that came out ultimately felt bad and told me how corrupt the company is and how they are treated.My power bill AVERAGE was $200 per month. I am now paying over $600 between power and solar. By the time they added all of the parts needed, my system cost over $70,000 and I am stuck in the loan. And, remember, the panels are not producing! Their paperwork has been the only part done right – for themselves. “This company uses deceptive sales tactics. A salesman showed me photos of supposed hail damage and pushed me to file an insurance claim. After filing, their own office told me there is no damage to my roof. Now I have a pointless insurance claim that could raise my premiums. And now after not meeting even ONE of the standards they were supposed to hit, they want to charge cancellation fees. “Typical work day wasn’t bad, management and owners couldn’t care less about you though. Owners tried implementing monthly meetings but were never consistent. They did one after two months and the owner said “wow some new faces here” even though the last hire was four months ago.They will tell you that you’re doing great work and a wonderful asset to the team just to tell give you more responsibilities, but the second you tell them no, or that you would like a raise to do said work they will find a reason to terminate you.The employee retention of this company is awful with new faces coming in every 6-8 months. We had spoken with several companies but Andrew was extremely cordial, laid back, and not pushy which is what drew us to him. Andrew is an expert in his field with over 8 years in the industry and his knowledge far exceeded anyone else we spoke with. We spent a great deal of time perfecting our system with him, and received the best possible technology and warranties available. Tephra also will be doing an energy efficiency upgrade to our home with R60 insulation and attic fans. Our solar panels are completely American made with a roof warranty of 25 years. The installers were great. Kenny was fast, reliable, professional and communicated everything necessary with us. We couldn’t be any happier with how things turned out. “I used Tephra for my solar install. Communication was not the greatest but it finally pulled together. Friend was looking at solar so I referred him, talked to his sales person with them, was told there is a referral bonus and friend ultimately went with them since I referred them. Friend’s install has been pretty bad to the point I feel bad referring the company. Horrid communication, missing deadlines, subpar customer service, then to top it off Tephra says no referral was given and are not paying out what is due.
