“Based on our experience, I strongly advise against purchasing a solar panel system through Valor Roof and Solar. We purchased our system through them, and while the sales team was friendly, the system they sold us has never lived up to the performance expectations they set. It’s important to note that Valor is not the actual solar provider–they hand off installation and support to a third-party company called 1Solar, which has been extremely difficult to work with. During the sales process, Valor assured us of specific energy savings and a guaranteed level of system performance, none of which have materialized. It’s also important to call out that Valor did not disclose that the system’s production was only guaranteed to achieve 85% of the original estimates. This should have been made clear from the beginning because it directly impacts the system’s expected return on investment. We only became aware of this lower guarantee after problems emerged, but even with the reduced 85% threshold, our system has still failed to meet the guaranteed levels since installation. Despite more than a month of efforts to seek help, neither Valor nor 1Solar has provided any meaningful resolution. This experience has been incredibly time-consuming, frustrating, and ultimately very disappointing. “I wish we could go negative stars! 1Solar who handles Valor’s installation is unethical! The solar panels on the barn and house were not connected/working for over a year. This is on my 80-year old mother’s property. She called multiple times for service calls and each time they came to the property, “inspected”, and stated it was working correctly. The salesperson from Valor no longer works there and no one else would respond. The person from 1Solar NEVER gave her the information to understand how solar would look on her Xcel bill. Finally, after multiple calls and service appointments on-site, a service tech identified that there was NO solar electricity being generated. When the supervisor was contacted about reimbursement for her electricity during the year (she has paid an additional insurance for solar, the price of the panels/installation, and the Xcel bill), he stated that it was “her responsibility to know” that the panels weren’t working. He is going to potentially reimburse $300 for the entire year! Complete elderly fraud! She is on a fixed income and he is a jerk! If there’s a problem with your solar they refer you to One Solar, who does the actual installation. One Solar is even worse.
