RE+: 10 Most Innovative Technologies From North America’s Largest Solar Trade Show

RE+ Las Vegas, Nevada, Sep 8-11 unveils new solar panels, battery energy storage solutions, manufacturing announcements, and more.

RE+ 2025, the biggest annual solar and energy storage conference in North America, will be held at The Venetian Expo & Caesars Forum. The conference will take place September 8-11, 2025. The event is a co-development of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).

If the event mirrors the 2024 numbers, it will attract more than 40,000 clean energy experts, more than 1,300 exhibitors, and over 400 educational programs. 1. Trinasolar Launches New High-Efficiency Solar Modules

Solar panel producer Trinasolar stated it would release numerous new items at RE+. The business is launching Vertex N 2000V, Vertex N Shield, and the integrated Elementa energy storage technology.

The firm will be showing the new Vertex S+ N-type TOPCon Hail and Wind-Resistant Module – NE09RH.05 at exhibit V9071. The all-black module will be available in 445 W power and 22.3% efficiency. The home solar module has 3.2 mm tempered front glass and a black reinforced metal frame. According to Trinasolar, the weather-resistant module is designed to withstand 5400 Pa wind and 45 mm hail.

It will also include the Vertex N-type TOPCon Module – NEG19RC.20. The tiny modules are based on multi-busbar technology. It provides up to 23% efficiency at 620 W output and a low temperature coefficient of (-0.29%). The bifacial N-type module produces 10% to 20% more power depending on the albedo of the location.

Omitted: Quotation award, is a bifacial tempered dual-glass monocrystalline module with third-party hailstone testing up to 75 mm. The modules provide up to 620 W of electricity and 23% efficiency. The module is geared at low levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and is suited for utility-scale, commercial and industrial (C&I), and community installations.

2. Bila Solar launches 550 W solar panel with US-made steel frame

U.S.-based solar module producer Bila Solar has teamed with Origami Solar to make modules with steel frames, built in the U.S. The solar modules also include U.S.-made solar cells, Bila Solar stated.

U.S.-made steel frames from Origami Solar are now available for Bila Solar’s 550 W dual-glass module series. This combination provides the consumer with greater domestic content, making the client more eligible for tax credit incentives and import limitations.

The new Origami steel-framed product is composed of a 550 W dual-glass steel-frame module and a 144 half-cut bifacial monocrystalline PERC module. It has an efficiency of 21.3 % and a rear-side power boost of 5 %.

It is a big-size solar module, rated to endure snow loads up to 5400 Pa and high wind up to 2400 Pa. The module is UL 61730 and UL 61215 tested and has a 12-year product materials and workmanship guarantee and a 30-year linear power performance warranty for less than 0.45% yearly deterioration after year one. Each panel weighs 77 pounds and is 89.69 inches x 44.65 inches by 1.38 inches.

The new 550 W steel-framed module series will be shown at the Origami Solar stand, Venetian Level 2 — V14131.

3. Mission Solar Starts Residential & Commercial Modules

Mission Solar, a solar panel manufacturer based in San Antonio, Texas, announced plans to release a suite of new products, including its 435 W N-Type 108HC rooftop solar module, boasting 22.8% efficiency, a 30-year power guarantee and 6.2% domestic content. Mission Solar claimed the product fulfills essential U.S. sourcing standards and is not subject to AD/CVD duties.

The solar module has a multi-busbar design to enhance the current flow and lower the resistance. The system is rated at a maximum voltage of 1,500 Vdc.

The business will also showcase three solar panel systems for commercial and industrial customers, including:

  • N-Type 132HC (610 W – 620 W): Bifacial N-type module with up to 23.0% efficiency and 30-year performance guarantee;
  • PERC Bifacial 132HC (660 W – 670 W): Dual-glass module designed to maximize energy benefits from the back side;
  • PERC Bifacial 144HC (545 W – 555 W): A transparent backsheet module designed to endure harsh conditions.

The modules are UL 61730 certified and hail-rated to 25 mm at 23 m/s.

4. Yaskawa Solectria Launches Modular Utility-Scale Solar Inverters

Yaskawa Solectria unveiled two new inverter solutions that will be shown at RE+. The new product range comprises XGI 1500 – 1 MW Series Inverters. The business stated that its modular utility-scale 1500Vdc, 3-phase 600Vac inverters can be scaled for any size of project. 40 different power ratings from 2.25 MW to 5 MW are available with PowerSkid assemblies, factory-integrated into the inverter. The gadget has DC inputs with a negative ground, which the business claims eliminates the PID (potential induced degradation) problem for solar panels.

The XGI 1500 has four PV source circuit terminals, each fused at 800A and switched at 600A. Supports up to 8 PV source circuit inputs, 2 per fused terminal.

Yaskawa Solectria stated the inverters are ready to store energy for both DC- and AC-coupled energy storage systems. They are BAA compliant and are made at facilities located in Buffalo Grove, IL and Oak Creek, WI. See the entire spec sheet here.

The business will also show its PVI-100TL-480, its biggest 1000 V transformerless inverter with a maximum output of 200 kW. It complies with IEEE 1547-2018 and has standard AC and DC disconnects, six MPPT’s and a wire box with 24 fused locations. The inverter is targeted for big rooftop PV installations.

The firm will be displaying its wares at Venetian EXPO, Level 2 Booth V11047.

5. SMA’s New Utility-Scale Storage Inverter and More

SMA America will be showing technologies for utility-scale storage, commercial solar and household energy systems.

The business is due to unveil its Sunny Central Storage UP-S, a utility-scale battery inverter. The inverter is adapted to fit with current 5 MWh or bigger battery energy storage system containers in two-, four- and eight-hour storage configurations.

The inverter uses silicon carbide metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (SiC) MOSFET technology that the business stated enables great power conversion efficiency and grid-forming capabilities.

SMA America Sunny Central Storage UP-S offers up to 4,600 kVA and no power derating at 95 degrees F. The inverter is over 99.2% efficient, allowing greater power with fewer installed battery capacity needs.

SMA will also be showcasing its Medium Voltage Power Station solution at RE+. The business said it thinks the product would be “domestically integrated”

Omitted: Quotation in the United States in 2026, which it believes will enhance delivery speed and bring it closer to its clients.

SMA will also showcase its Sunny Highpower Storage, a string inverter for small utility applications from 1 MW to 5 MW. The modular and scalable string inverter is able to host over 15 MW inverters in one container.

SMA will be located at the Venetian Expo Hall, Level 2, booth V9713 for attendees.

6. Nextracker launches utility-scale solar eBOS trunk collector NX PowerMerge

Solar tracker supplier Nextracker has introduced NX PowerMerge, a trunk-connector-based electrical balancing of systems (eBOS) solution for utility-scale solar projects. Read an exclusive pv magazine USA interview on the product here

NX PowerMerge is built to satisfy the needs of today’s high-voltage, high-density arrays. It provides a 2 kV ready option for PV string-to-bus connections. It has an ampacity of 400 A or more, accommodates up to eight tap wires, and is compatible with trunk conductors up to 1000 kcmil.

NX PowerMerge allows engineers to minimize the number of connection points, therefore simplifying inverter block design, the firm added.

The business said it is introducing NX PowerMerge to help the industry embrace trunk buss, which are used in many utility-scale solar projects. Nextracker, which also provides eBOS solutions based on the classic combiner box, is now offering the NX PowerMerge as an alternative. The trunk link is intended to minimize project-levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and streamline project implementation.

Nextracker will show the PowerMerge at its stand V9223.

7. Canadian Solar unveils e-Storage modular energy storage system of 8.36 MWh

Canadian Solar’s subsidiary e-Storage will debut its latest modular grid-scale battery, the FlexBank 1.0.

The scalable battery provides an energy capacity of up to 8.36 MWh and may be configured as a 2 MW, four-hour duration system or a 4 MW, two-hour system. The modular, open-frame construction allows for each cabinet to be a stand-alone building block, which simplifies logistics and installation.

The battery has a nominal capacity of 1.67 MWh and rated DC powers of 800 kW for a 2-hour and 400 kW for a 4-hour period. The battery has a round-trip efficiency of 94 percent.

The battery is based on the company’s 314Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cell technology. Each battery cabinet has cell-level precision control, three-stage electrical protection, and heat barriers for the battery cells to reduce the danger of fire. The modular design is designed to contain heat propagation inside cabinets, reducing the danger of fire even more.

FlexBank 1.0 is skid-mounted for quick field installation and flexible layout variants. “The system is fully compatible with power conversion systems to allow for integration for both new deployments and site augmentations.”

8. Ontility to build new Tennessee plant for solar remanufacturer

Terrepower, formerly known as BBB Industries, an aftermarket expert in sustainable manufacturing, will present its solar-focused brand Ontility. The firm acquires, maintains and refurbishes solar modules, inverters, racking and balance of system (BOS) components. It purchases surplus solar merchandise from end users, developers, contractors, manufacturers and brokers. Components are bought from canceled or reduced projects, liquidated stocks and other secondary sources.

Ontility remanufactures aftermarket solar components using a factory-level process. The business stated it is more than just repair and refurbishing, as each solar module undergoes rigorous diagnostics, cell-level analysis and component replacement to return it to its original manufacturer specs.

Terrepower has announced the completion of a 200,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Sparta, Tennessee with the capability to manufacture 300,000 solar modules per year and the flexibility to ramp up to over one million panels per year. When operating at full capacity, the facility is projected to save more than 16 million pounds of material from landfills each year and put enough sustainably built solar panels back in the market to power as many as 20,000 homes.

9. PV Hardware Opens Texas Factory for Solar Trackers

Solar tracker and foundation solution supplier PV Hardware has increased its position in U.S. manufacturing with the opening of a new plant in Houston, Texas.

PV Hardware said the 95,000-square-foot building is expected to create 100 long-term jobs in the Houston region. The factory will be added to the company’s current plant in Houston, valued at $30 million, which debuted in May 2024.

PV Hardware has extended its footprint in Houston to satisfy increasing client demand and to improve the reliability of its supply chain. The business claims its innovative preassembly method may save installation times by 40 percent.

PV Hardware will be exhibiting its goods and services at booth V8045.

10. Boviet Solar finishes outside construction of 3 GW U.S. solar cell plant

Boviet Solar has finished outside construction of its projected 3 GW solar cell production plant in Greenville, North Carolina.

The company’s first North American manufacturing base in Greenville is a $294 million investment. Production will concentrate on its Gamma Series Monofacial and Vega Series bifacial modules that employ sophisticated N-type solar cell technology.

The cell capacity is increased from the previously stated 2 GW to 3 GW. Construction of the facility started in early 2025. The cell manufacturing will complement the company’s nearby 2 GW solar module assembly factory, which began mass production in Q1 of 2025.

Once fully operational, the module and cell facilities are estimated to provide about 908 jobs locally. Boviet Solar said it plans to commence mass production at the solar cell plant in the second half of 2026.
